Loves Me, Loves Me Not
His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
When you get married, then you will understand what suffering it is...
'samsara' 'samsara' kari' michhe gela kala
"Time has passed as I have been busy in my material life, and I have got nothing—only became burdened."
"I offer my obeisance unto the lotus feet of Sri Guru, the ocean of goodness who assumes the form of a cloud of mercy to deliver the souls burning in the blazing fire of material existence."
The three-fold miseries... What people call love is actually enjoyment. Just for their food people work like asses, but they do not want to serve the Lord...
Once, a girl was married off to a military man. The husband had to go for training, and the wife stayed alone at home for several years. In those days there were no mobile phones, so she wrote to him letters every day, always asking him, "When will you come back? When will you come back?"
The husband had a friend at the military camp, and seeing his attachment to his wife, the friend asked him,
"Does your wife love you very much?"
"Yes, very much."
"Let's test your wife to see how much she loves you."
"When you have a leave and come back home, I will go with you. I will give you a sleeping pill—you will take it and will not wake up in the morning."
The husband agreed to do what his friend was suggesting, and that morning, his friend came to his room first. He saw that he did not move and did not wake up, so he told everybody that the man had died in sleep. Everybody began lamenting, and the wife began to cry...
They prepared the body and were about to carry it out to the ghat, but he 'died' with his arms spread sideways, so the body could not pass through the door. The wife asked her husband's friend,
"What are we going to do?"
"Let's break the door," suggested the friend.
"My husband is dead now, who will repair the door? No, it is not necessary. Let's cut his arms instead!"
"I cannot cut his arms!"
"If you cannot, let me do it then."
As she was about to chop her late husband's arms, he woke up and said, "Oh, so this is how much you love me?"
So, that is 'love'... As soon the husband becomes a problem, as soon as he becomes sick, the girl thinks, "I can marry another one. How many men are there like him?...
