Chant and Remember

"Jivana anitya janaha sara (জীবন অনিত্য জানহ সার)": life is uncertain. You can understand it yourself also.

We can leave this world at any time, but we must think what we have done, whether we have been able to serve the Lord while we are here in this world. We must always think about this.

It is necessary to always, all the time chant the Holy Name of Krishna. Krishna-nam is the main thing,

হরের্নাম হরের্নাম হরের্নামৈব কেবলম্ ।
কলৌ নাস্ত্যেব নাস্ত্যেব নাস্ত্যেব গতিরন্যথা ॥

harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam
kalau nasty eva nasty eva nasty eva gatir anyatha

"Only chanting the Holy Name, chanting the Holy Name, chanting the Holy Name—there is no other way, no other way, no other way."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 7.76)

In Kali-yuga, there is no other way except chanting of the Holy Name, that is why in this Kali-yuga we must chant the Holy Name, we must engage in sravan and kirtan. Do not forget the great things running behind small things. The Lord has given us everything—food, etc. We got it all in previous lives also—whatever birth we got previously, we got all these facilities before too. Just for the sake of filling your belly, for the sake of such small things you forget the great things, you forget the Lord. We always think and worry about good food, good clothes, money, etc.—these are all small things. Prabhupad said that even if your boat is sinking, you must continue rowing. Chant the Holy Name. Start the fire, and wind will come automatically. We must always remember and think about these things, we must always engage ourselves in kirtan.

You are always busy with your work and family, but you must chant the Holy Name and take care of your family understanding that it is the Lord's family. Stay within service and chant—whether you are eating, sitting, lying down, etc.

কি শয়নে, কি ভোজনে, কিবা জাগরণে ।
অহর্নিশ চিন্ত কৃষ্ণ, বলহ বদনে ॥

ki sayane, ki bhojane, kiba jagarane
aharnisa chinta krsna, balaha vadane

Whether you are sleeping, eating, or resting, always chant the Name of Krishna.

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavat, Madhya-khanda, 28.28)

"Aharnisa chinta Krsna balaha vadane": always chant the Name of Krishna, always think about Krishna. If you can always think about Krishna, you will get supreme benefit. If you can chant the Holy Name just once, you will get supreme benefit—you can reach the Lord!

The Lord has given you nine doors—they are not for eating. So many dirty things come out of these doors, but the Lord has given you a mouth so that you can chant the Holy Name of the Lord. If we can use this tongue for this purpose (to chant the Holy Name), we will be able to reach our ultimate destination. Please always remember this. There are many kinds of devotional practices (sadhana), it is not necessary to practise everything—if you can practise only one thing, it is sufficient.

Simple. Sincere. Sufficient.
'Srila Prabhupad said, 'Do not read so many books, and do not practise so many things.' Simple books are sufficient. You can recite, sing, and memorise daily songs, and practise every day.'

Janama saphala ta'ra
'Krishna is expert at play in Vrindavan. He wears a forest garland, poses bent in three places, and plays the flute perfectly. He is a reservoir of rasa and possesses all qualities.'

Your relationship with your parents and other relatives is temporary,
but your relationship with me and the Lord is not.
