Proper Utilisation His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
দিন যায় মিছা কাজে নিশা নিদ্রাবশে ।
dina jaya michha kaje nisa nidra-base My days are passed in useless work and nights are wasted on sleeping. It never occurs to me that there is death sitting next to me. 'Durlabha manava labhiya samsare' by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur All our Guru-varga gave their life for service to the Lord. Gurupad-padma, Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur—they all used everybody and everything for service to the Lord—even ash! Once when one of the disciples of Srila Prabhupad went to collect, some angry lady gave him ash, but Prabhupad said, "What is the problem? This ash is good too—you can clean prasadam or Deities' plates with it. It can also be used for service to the Lord, and the one who gave it will get some sukriti." There is also another example. There are many banana trees growing here in Nabadwip, and once somebody came to take the banana leaves, but Gurudev did not allow it. The men called him a miser, but Gurudev explained, "It is not about being a miser. These banana leaves are used for service to the Lord, but you are taking it for your own enjoyment. Why should I give the Deities' property—Krishna's property—for your own enjoyment? This is why I do not allow to take it." Gurudev also organised tours and parikramas, set up a printing press to raise the funds and maintain the temple, to serve the devotees. Our Guru-varga use everything for the service to the Lord. You must surrender fully, then Krishna will fulfil your desire, and He will give you protection. Service mood is necessary: we have a chaittya-guru in our heart, and that chaittya-guru takes us to a mahanta-guru; when we have got a mahanta-guru, a bona fide spiritual master, we must serve his lotus feet properly.
