Backstabbing His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
I am not a politician, I am a straight person. Telling one thing and doing another thing behind—I cannot do that. If you want to fight, you can fight knowing that your opposition is in front of you, but if there is an enemy inside ("sasyer madhye bhut," as Gurudev said—শস্যের মধ্যে ভূত, lit. "a ghost in grains"), then it is a big problem. If your enemy is in front of you, it is OK, you know that he is your enemy, then you can fight; but if it is like Vibhisan who was an insider, or like Mir Jafar who was also an insider, then it is very bad and difficult to fight. Vibhisan is from Ramayan and Mir Jafar is from Bengal. Because of Mir Jafar, the British came here and possessed, conquered Bharat (India), Bangladesh and Pakistan in 1757. At that time, the king was Siraj ud-Daulah, a Muslim, of only seventeen-nineteen years of age, and Mir Jafar was the senapati, general of the army. Because of that Mir Jafar in 1757, India was under the British for 190 years—it became free from them only in 1947, on August 15. After that, they say if somebody is a traitor, he is a mirjafar. They say, "I am with you!" (and "I am with you" means "I am behind you") but they stab you in your back. "Yes, do not worry, I am behind you," but they come behind and thrust a knife into you. That is called mirjafar...
Note: Mir Jafar Ali Khan Bahadur betrayed the king of India, Siraj ud-Daulah, in a great battle of Palashi in 1757 which resulted in the king's execution and India losing its independence for the coming 190 years. As a reward for his betrayal in favour of the British, he was granted his long-pursued wish of being appointed the next ruler of Bengal. In India, "mirjafar" became a common name for a vile traitor (similar to Judah in Christianity).
