(1/12) Pure Hearts' Kirtan His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
We have come to speak about the Lord, to speak about the glories of the Lord. You can pay some professional singers and bring them here, but if somebody else eats, will your stomach be full by that? It will not. You, too, must eat. So, when you hire people to come and chant some kirtan, they only come, chant for one day or a few days and go away taking your money. You cannot worship Deities with fifty rupees, and you cannot read Bhagavatam for one hundred rupees. Kirtan is something that must be sung from your heart. So, chant together with me. 'Sevonmukhe kaha Krsna Nam (সেবোন্মুখে কহে কৃষ্ণনাম). Chant the Holy Name with service mood.' Even those who are cooking should chant with their mouths. [His Divine Grace resumes kirtan chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.] When Mahaprabhu went to Kashi (Benares), one devotee asked him, 'Why does the Holy Name not come to the mouths of all these mayavadi sannyasis who know all the Vedas and Vedanta? Why cannot they chant the Holy Name?' Mahaprabhu replied, 'Because they are offenders of the Holy Name. If somebody is an offender of the Holy Name, the Holy Name will never come out of their mouths – many things will come out of their mouths, but not the Holy Name.'
দিনের মধ্যে আবল-তাবল
dinera madhye abala-tabala 'How much nonsense you can talk every day! How many idle talks you have! Can you not say the Name of Govinda even once?' Srila Prabhupad also said one very beautiful thing. He said that when you are covered with anarthas (unwanted habits or behaviour) – if you have other thoughts, other desires in your heart – the Holy Name will not come out of your mouth. But there is a way out. Do you know what this solution is? When you are covered with anarthas, there is only one Name you can chant – the Holy Name of Nitai-Gaura. As you chant and chant Nitai-Gaura's Names, all your anarthas will go away, and then you will feel taste for chanting the Holy Name. This is what Srila Prabhupad Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur said. So, we all here have anarthas, we are all sick, so how will we chant? Therefore, let us chant Nitai-Gaura's Names. [His Divine Grace resumes kirtan chanting Nitai-Gaura's Holy Names.]
