(9/10) Run behind the Lord His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
You will be astonished to hear what happened about a week ago. One person approached me. The Lord sent him to me – I do not know, maybe it was Lord Brahma himself or Lord Siva, or maybe it was Lord Indra himself. I had not met this person before, but he called me and said, 'I have come to see you, but your foreign devotees are not letting me in.' I told them to leave the man alone and let him come in. The man came in, offered his full obeisances to me and said, 'I have come to ask for your help.' 'How can I help you? With money, cars or any other things?' 'No, no, I do not need all this,' he said. 'I have some money. Can you please take it?' 'Money? How much?' I asked him, surprised. 'Actually we have some construction works going on now, so I can use it there.' 'How much can you take?' 'Well, I can take a hundred million rupees.' 'No, that will not do. You must take one billion rupees.' 'What? How can I take a billion rupees from you?! Even if I take it, there will be a big problem with the income tax office.' 'All right, then take half of it now and take the other half in six months.' Talking to the man, I wondered, 'Who has sent this man to me? Maybe the Lord has kept some money with Lord Indra, and now Lord Indra has come to me.' Anyhow, I agreed thinking that if I had that money, I could quickly finish the construction works in Mayapur, then we will not have any problems. The Lord is the master, the owner of everything in this world, but the people in this world are only running behind money. How crazy they are! They always run around in frenzy, thinking, 'Where can I find money?', 'Where can I find money?' People call us crazy, but we become crazy for the Lord – we run behind the Lord. And Gurudev said, 'If you run behind the Lord, then Lord Brahma, Lord Indra will run behind you with a bag of money.' There is also a temple being built in Bangladesh. It is a Muslim area, and the people there had never even seen such buildings in their lives. Everybody there keeps wondering, 'What is this uncle there building? What will be here?' We sent Indian workers to build the temple there, and the local people had never even seen such people before. Actually, if you talk to such people who have never seen anything in their lives, they will believe you. It is my prayer to you all – please practise Krishna consciousness, please serve the Lord. This is what my Gurupadpadma told me. This is all he preached in this world. Before Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj left this world and after he declared that Srila Gurudev would be his successor, Srila Gurudev was once sitting with a stick in his hand, looking very worried. Somebody came up to Srila Sridhar Maharaj and told him that Srila Govinda Maharaj was sitting, looking worried. At that time, although Srila Sridhar Maharaj could not see well, he told Srila Govinda Maharaj, 'I can understand what you are worried about. You are thinking that I have given you this huge responsibility, and there is only 15,000 rupees in the bank. Govinda Maharaj, you should only preach about the Lord, about Mahaprabhu, about Rupa-Raghunath, and money will always be there at your doorstep.' You can see how many temples there are now, how many thousands and thousands of rupees are being spent on construction. There is no lack of anything. A few years ago, I took the red car and left the temple empty-handed. I could not even take my books or any of my things. I had some books that Srila Sridhar Maharaj had given to Gurudev, but I had to leave everything behind in Nabadwip and leave. Although I left wearing only my clothes, I am not starving, neither do I keep any of you starving. There is no problem now, and there will not be any problem in the future. It is necessary to have faith in this.
