(1) At Haridev Mandir
His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
By the mercy of Gurudev, we have come here, to the temple of Lord Haridev on the bank of Manasi Ganga. Krishna Himself created this Ganga river here. One time, Mother Yasoda and Nanda Maharaj wanted to go to bathe in the Ganges, but to save them the trouble of travelling so far, the Supreme Lord created the Ganges right here. Lord Krishna told Mother Yasoda and Nanda Maharaj, 'You do not have to walk so far, I can bring Ganga here.' He did that. [Clamour] I always tell you: speak less. When you come to all these holy places, you must not speak, only listen. If you want to speak, you must only say, 'Krishna, Krishna.' When we walk and chant kirtan, this is what must come out of your mouths. So, we are seated now in the middle of Govardhan. The temple of Lord Haridev is actually a very ancient temple. You can see it marbled and painted now, but when we came here first, we saw its previous form. This temple was established by Krishna's great-grandson Vajranabha. Later, he also made the temple of Adikeshav in Mathura. We will go there when we go to Mathura, it is right next to the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The temple of Gopal (Govardhan-dhari Gopal) was also established by Vajranabha. When Muslims were breaking all Hindu temples, the pujari hid Gopal. I will talk about it tomorrow when we go there. As for this temple of Lord Haridev, Mahaprabhu Himself came here to this very nat-mandir where we are sitting now. He stayed here for three nights. During that time, He did the parikrama of Govardhan and Vrindavan and showed Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Sanatan Goswami where all the places were (where Radha Kunda was, where Shyama Kunda was, and so on). For example, when Mahaprabhu came to Radha Kunda, He saw a little water built up in the ground – He bathed there and indicated, 'This is Radha Kunda.' Gauranga Mahaprabhu is Lord Krishna Himself (yei Gaura sei Krsna যেই গৌর সেই কৃষ্ণ) who appeared in this world as a combined form of Radha and Krishna. We are doing the parikrama of Sri Govardhan Hill now, and the hill has a shape of a peacock. We always start from this side that is called the mukhara-bindu (মুখর বিন্দু), Govardhan's mouth. The part of Govardhan that we will visit tomorrow is the tail, or the rare part, of the peacock (puchhari ka lota, পুছরী কা লোটা). Our next stop will be Brahma Kunda...
