(11/13) Be Sharp

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Kolkata-Worldwide, 21 June 2020, part 11

Question: There are some small insects on Tulasi leaves leaving white things. What can I use to remove them from Tulasi?

You must take proper care of Tulasi and remove insects. If necessary, you can also spray insecticide for proper service of Tulasi. If it is necessary to spray, that is not a problem because it is necessary to take proper care of Tulasi. If some insects are eating Tulasi, these insects must be removed. If they come again, you must spray the tree with something. You must keep Tulasi in very strong health, and you should do whatever is necessary for that.

Question: Is it wrong to have more inclination towards Nityananda Prabhu than Mahaprabhu?

You must give proper respect to both Nityananda Prabhu and Gauranga Mahaprabhu. If you only follow Nityananda and not follow Gauranga, or if you sometimes follow Gauranga and sometimes do not follow Nityananda, it is not good.

You have heard from Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita the story about Ramdas Minaketan and Gunarnava Misra. Gunarnava Misra did not give respect to Ramdas Minaketan because he was a servitor of Nityananda Prabhu. Ramdas Minaketan was very upset about that and he said that it was ardha-kukkuti nyaya, half-hen logic. It means you see a chicken and think, 'Oh, its backside gives eggs, so I will keep the bottom half of the chicken and throw away the other half!' If you do that, the cock or the chicken will die – you cannot get any eggs like that. This is what is called ardha-kukkuti nyaya. Hearing what had happened, Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami had a little argument with his brother because his brother had brought that brahman Gunarnava Misra who did not give proper respect to Ramdas Minaketan. After that, Nityananda Prabhu came to Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami in a dream and called him, 'Krishna Das! You are not to stay with your brother, this is bad association. Come to Vrindavan.'

So, it is not good if you differentiate. You must give proper respect to both Gauranga and Nityananda. You cannot differentiate between Them because They are non-different from each other. Nityananda and Gauranga manifest Themselves as two bodies, but They are actually one and the same, just as Krishna and Balaram are the same. To satisfy His pastimes, the Lord manifests Himself in two bodies, as Krishna and Balaram in Dvapar-yuga or as Nitai and Guara in Kali-yuga. So, if you give respect to one and not to the other (or you give less respect to the other), it is not good. Nityananda and Gauranga are non-different from each other.

Invoking Vaishnavs' Mercy
'Today is Srimad Bhakti Kamal Madhusudan Maharaj's appearance day. Wherever he is staying now, whether in Goloka Vrindavan or anywhere else, we are praying to him, 'Wherever you are now, please give us some mercy.''

We have to be niskama bhakta, no other way: we must have no material desire,
and we must not ask Krishna for anything.
