A Month of Festivals

This Wednesday, on 26 August, starts a very special month that is marked by many important festivals. Among the dates are:

• 27 Aug (Thu)—Disappearance of Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Gauri Das Pandit Goswami.
• 29 Aug (Sat)—Baladev Purnima, appearance of Sri Baladev. Fast until noon.
• 6 Sept (Sun)—Sri Krishna Janmastami, the appearance day of Lord Sri Krishna.
Complete fast until midnight. The fast is broken with anukalpa at midnight (no grain prasad, similar to Ekadashi), and on the next day, between 5:21-6:48 a.m., full prasad seva is done.
• 7 Sept (Mon)—Sri Nandotsav and appearance day of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj Prabhupad
• 20 Sept (Sun)—Sri Lalita Saptami, the appearance day of Sri Lalita Devi.
• 21 Sept (Mon)—Sri Radhastami, appearance of Srimati Radharani. Fast until noon.
• 25 Sept (Fri)—the appearance day of Lord Vamanadev and Srila Jiva Goswami.
• 26 Sept (Sat)—the appearance day of Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur.
• 27 Sept (Sun)—the disappearance day of Namacharya Srila Haridas Thakur.

It is a standing desire of Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj that the devotees in the temples, centres, and sanghas all over the world try to come together and hold programmes, especially on these days—offer arati, chant kirtan, read the scriptures and holy books of our worshipable Gurus, make special offerings to Srila Gurudev and the Deities, and distribute prasadam. "Jiva daya, Name ruchi, Vaishnava seva—be merciful to the conditioned souls, chant the Holy Name, and serve the Vaishnavs."

May this month bring auspiciousness to all souls and may the service and programmes run gloriously, proclaiming and spreading the glories of our Gurupadpadma and Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, from door to door, from heart to heart.
