Be Clear, Not Clever

Sometimes some problem can come, but you must remember that the instruction comes from above. Gurudev also said to me, "When I give you some instruction, for example I tell you to give a lecture, it means that I also give you the energy to do it." You think, "Oh, I do not know how to do it, I do not know the scriptures, I do not know anything. How will I start?..." but you are not doing it! Your Guru is doing it.

What do you think? When Gurudev orders you to do something, he will do it, not you. So, why are you afraid? You are afraid because you think about yourself. Dehe atma buddhi (দেহে আত্ম বুদ্ধি): you think you are this body, that is why you are afraid. If Gurudev gives an instruction, Gurudev also gives the power and the strength to do it, so what is there to be afraid of? No need to be afraid. Proceed with your practising life in this way, do not be afraid.

Gurudev said to me, "Why are you afraid? You are not going to do it, I am going to do it." Mahaprabhu also said the same thing to Sanatan Goswami, to Raghunath Das Goswami, and Rupa Goswami said the same thing to Raghunath Das Goswami. If you dissect it, you will see that the very substance is the same: we do not do anything, Gurudev does everything.

Srila Prabhupad Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur also gave a very nice definition of what is called bhajan. Bhajan is not sitting under a tree and chanting. In Kali-yuga, bhajan is gostha bhajan, not nirjan bhajan. Nirjan bhajan means going to a solitary place and chanting there, but no—bhajan means practising together, with sankirtan!

The Lord said, "How will you get Me? Through sankirtan yajna." He gave an exact answer. If Krishna says, "Give Me a laddu," then give Him a laddu. Finished. It is not necessary to think about a singara (samosa).

Sometimes we follow our mind. Yesterday, going in the car, I was thinking that Krishna was protecting me. Gurudev told me, "If you want to make my samadhi, you must use white marble," but we think about something else, and that is our fault. We went to see the marble yesterday and saw many colours, but what is this? Gurudev had told to use white, and it is not necessary to think about anything else. If Gurudev says white, then why will I go to see any other colour? It is illusory environment. We saw many very beautiful colours, but it is illusory environment... Do you understand?

Cheating Yourself Out of Happiness
'There are so many religions in this world, but Srimad Bhagavatam says it is all cheating. Why is it cheating? ..Ultimately, it will depend upon your faith, if you have 20% faith, that is the kind of happiness you will get.'

Sri Sri Damodarastakam
'To the Supreme Lord, whose form is the embodiment of eternal existence, knowledge, and bliss, whose shark-shaped earrings are swinging to and fro, who is beautifully shining in the divine realm of Gokula, who [due to the offence of breaking the pot of yogurt that his mother was churning into butter and then stealing the butter that was kept hanging from a swing] is quickly running from the wooden grinding mortar in fear of Mother Yasoda, but who has been caught from behind by her who ran after Him with greater speed—to that Supreme Lord, Sri Damodara, I offer my humble obeisances.'

If you remember Krishna's face, Gurudev's face at the time of death, it will be a good luck for you. If you do not practise, chanting will not come to your mouth at the time of death.
