{ HARI-KATHA IN KULGACHIA }
Examine Yourself

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Kulgachia Gram, Howrah District
6 May 2018, part 5

Vaishnavs have twenty-six qualities. You can examine yourself and tell it yourself whether you have these qualities or not. What to speak of twenty-six qualities, do you have even one of those qualities? Only you can judge it.

When you go to school, as you finish different grades you take exams and go to a higher grade, then you eventually get a qualification; but who will give you an exam here? You yourself must examine yourself: "Do I really do service or not? Have I become a sadhu or not? Do I have taste for Hari-katha or not? Do I criticise others and gossip about others? Do I sin thinking the Holy Name will remove the reaction?" You must judge it for yourself. You understand yourself whether you chant the real Holy Name or not.

It is our duty to serve the Vaishnavs. In this Kali-yuga, nirjan bhajan is simply cheating. To stay alone, not to associate with others—this is called self-deception. Kali-yuga is not for bhajanandi, Kali-yuga is for gosthanandi, gostha-bhajan—you must practise sankirtan with everybody. This is called the real Holy Name.

When you chant the Holy Name together with everybody, that is called sankirtan. When you chant the Holy Name on your own, you chant it in your mind and alongside you have so many other thoughts come to your mind. Even if you try to chant for ten minutes, so many thoughts will enter your mind during that time. But when you chant the Holy Name loudly, then animals, birds, ants, insects, etc.—all the creatures that cannot talk, cannot hear—can hear the sound vibration...

Sri Gurudev's Protection
An extensive story that illustrates the extent to which a Guru goes to protect his surrendered disciple: 'If a servant somehow falls down and goes to some other place, glorious is the master who grabs him and brings him back by his hair.'

Sri Sri Damodarastakam
'To the Supreme Lord, whose form is the embodiment of eternal existence, knowledge, and bliss, whose shark-shaped earrings are swinging to and fro, who is beautifully shining in the divine realm of Gokula, who [due to the offence of breaking the pot of yogurt that his mother was churning into butter and then stealing the butter that was kept hanging from a swing] is quickly running from the wooden grinding mortar in fear of Mother Yasoda, but who has been caught from behind by her who ran after Him with greater speed—to that Supreme Lord, Sri Damodara, I offer my humble obeisances.'
শ্রীশ্রীদামোদরাষ্টকম্

It is very rare—but if you follow properly, you can be a proper devotee.
