Srila Prabhupad's Glory (1) His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
"Akalanka purna indu. Sri-Gauranga-parisada Thakura Bhakti-vinoda..." If you can realise the meaning this song (Acharya-vandana: "Jayare jayare jaya paramahamsa mahasaya..."), you can get all glorification of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur from this song. I heard that when he disappeared, everything became very dark—the sky was clouded, etc... He was alive for sixty-four years, and during this time he made sixty-four temples all over the world, in India and also outside. He brought so many scholars (digpals) like Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj, Srila Bhakti Prajnan Keshav Maharaj, Srila Bhakti Vilas Tirtha Maharaj, and so many others. Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur always keeping his son Bimala Prasad with him. I also heard from Gurudev that when he was staying in Svarupganj, Godrumdwip, he used to keep one hundred feet away from any mayavadi or sahajiya, he could not tolerate them. One time, some sahajiya came to Bhakti Vinod Thakur, and Prabhupad Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur paid obeisance to Bhakti Vinod Thakur from one hundred feet away. The sahajiya asked Bhakti Vinod Thakur, "Why is this boy paying dandavat from so far? Why is he not coming near?" Bhakti Vinod Thakur replied, "Because he wants to always keep far from sahajiyas and mayavadis." Bhakti Vinod Thakur gave all charge, all responsibility to Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur (Bimala Prasad). He gave him everything. Also, Bhakti Vinod Thakur sent Bimala Prasad to take initiation from Srila Gaura Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj. You know this story and I have told it many times—he waited and waited for many days, coming and going, because Gaura Kishor Das Babaji at first did not give him initiation. Also, Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur did not call Bhakti Vinod Thakur father, he respectfully called him Prabhu. "Baba badha radha." (বাবা বাধা রাধা) Sundarananda Vidya Vinod Prabhu published this in the Gaudiya. "Badha" means bondage. Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur's brother treated Bhakti Vinod Thakur as his father, but Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur never thought of Bhakti Vinod Thakur as his father. He always thought he was His Divine Master. That brother eventually left... He actually wanted some share of Chaitanya Math, but Bhakti Vinod Thakur gave all power to Bimala Prasad, Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur. Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur left so many teachings... At one time, he took a vow to chant one billion Holy Names, and when he finished this vow, Guru Gauranga Gandharva Giridhari came in front of him and said to him, "Start preaching!" And he came out of his bhajan and started preaching...

sripat khetari-dham thakura sri-narottama Narottam Das Thakur was born in Khetari Dham, Bangladesh, and Mahaprabhu knew that Narottam would come. The Ganges that flows in Bangladesh is the same river as here but its name is different, it is called Padma River there. So, when Mahaprabhu came to Bangladesh, to this Padma River, He took a drop of water and threw it into the river shouting, "Narottam! Narottam! Narottam!" Everybody was surprised, "Where is Narottam? Who is Narottam?" Nobody knew, but Narottam Das Thakur was born after Mahaprabhu and he kept His line...

sastrera siddhanta-sara suni lage chamatkara In those days, there was so much misconception. Aul, baul, kartabhaja, neda, darvesh, sani, sahajiya, sakhibekhi, smarta, jata gosai, ativadi, churadhari, gauranga-nagari—there were thirteen apa-sampradayas at that time, now there are thirteen thousand! There is an apa-sampradaya in every corner now—whoever wants to be a Guru start their own sampradaya...

smarta-mata jaladhara suddha-bhakti ravi-kara He established Mahaprabhu's siddhanta, perfect conclusions, perfect practice for our spiritual life. Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur established here what Mahaprabhu wanted. This is how Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur is glorified in this song... Our Param Guru Maharaj, Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj also wrote,
সুজনার্ব্বুদরাধিতপাদযুগং
sujanarvuda-radhita-pada-yugam "My master, Prabhupad Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur, established the religion of the age, Krishna-sankirtan, and is the chief minister of the universal assembly of leading Vaisnavas. His lotus feet are worshipped by millions of virtuous souls and fulfil the desires of those who dispel souls' fears. Eternally I offer my obeisance to my master's worshippable feet." We sing it but we do not realise its meaning because if we realised its meaning, we would get taste singing it. We must sing it every day and be conscious of it.

janakadhika-vatsala-snigdha-padam "He is more kind and affectionate than a father. Eternally I offer my obeisance to my master's feet." Janak means father. What is a father like? Father gives so much affection, but here Srila Sridhar Maharaj writes that he got more affection from Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur than a father can give. And we can say also that we have got even more than that from our Gurudev—we have got even more from our Gurudev than Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj had got from Prabhupad. Janakadhika—you can write a much more superlative adjective about Gurudev.

janakadhika-vatsala-snigdha-padam "He is more kind and affectionate than a father. Eternally I offer my obeisance to my master's feet." This is what Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj writes this about Prabhupad, these are his words. We are not able to write like this, but we can see how he writes about him.

purve yatha gaura-hari, mayavada chheda kari When Mahaprabhu went to Kasi, He converted all mayavadis, all group of Prakasananda Saraswati into Vaishnavs. In this same way, Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur also changed everything.

nikhila-bhuvana-maya-chhinna-vichchhinna-kartri Nikhila-bhuvana-maya-chhinna-vichchhinna-kartri: he declared a war against maya. Sithilita-vidhi-raga-aradhya-radhesa-dhani: he also relaxed the rules. Before, you had to fast for three days on Ekadasi and do a complete fast, without eating anything, but Prabhupad said no, you can fast from the morning until the noon. Also, on Nityananda trayodasi, you had to fast the whole day, but Prabhupad said no, Nityananda Prabhu was born at noon, Radharani was born at noon, so you can fast until noon. He loosened some rules and regulations. Vilasati hrdi nityam bhakti-siddhanta-vani. Very nicely written.
