Srila Prabhupad's Glory (2)

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Disappearance day of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta
Saraswati Thakur Prabhupad
25 December 2010

"Hana 'kirtaniyah sada harih'": Prabhupad told everyone must always chant kirtan.

sthane sthane kata matha sthapiyachha niskapata
prema-seva sikhaite jive
mathera vaisnava-gana kare sada vitarana
hari-guna-kathamrta bhave

"Sincerely, you established so many temples to teach the souls loving service to the Lord. The Vaishnava residents of these temples incessantly spread the nectar of the glories of the Lord."

We have a duty—our duty is to spread. What do Vaishnavs go house to house for?

mahanta-svabhava ei tarite pamara
nija karya nahi tabu yana tara ghara

"It is the general practice of all saintly people to deliver the fallen. Therefore they go to people's houses, although they have no personal business there."

(Chaitanya-charitamrita, Madhya, 8.39)

Vaishnavs go house to house, Prabhupad sends them house to house (Gaudiya pathao) so that they preach Bhagavat-katha. This is their only duty, nothing else.

smarta-mata jaladhara suddha-bhakti ravi-kara
achchhadila bhaviya antare
sastra-sindhu manthanete susiddhanta jhanjnavate
udaila dig-digantare

"The rain clouds of smarta-brahmans (skilled in law and logic) cover the sunshine of pure devotion, although it still remains there at the core. Churning the ocean of the scriptures and creating a storm of the highest teachings, you cleared and delivered all directions."

dese dese niskinchan prerila vaishnava-gana
vistarite hariguna-gana

"You sent devotees, free from material desires, from place to place to spread the glories of the Lord."

Srila Prabhupad sent A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj to the foreign countries. Swami Maharaj was writing and translating Srimad Bhagavatam in the Radha-Damodar temple, but all of a sudden, in his old age he took a ship and left. It took him two-three months to cross the ocean, and during that time he had a stroke three times. I saw his diary from the ship, he wrote that the sea was not calm, there were waves but then suddenly the sea became peaceful. He went abroad, and you can see now what a big mission (ISKCON) it is now, spread all over the world due to Swami Maharaj. Who sent him there? Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur. Our Guru Maharaj used the title "Bhagavan"—Bhagavan Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur.

জয়রে জয়রে জয় গৌর-সরস্বতী ।
ভকতিবিনোদান্বয় করুণামুরতি ॥

jayare jayare jaya gaura-saraswati
bhakativinodanvaya karuna murati

'All glory, all glory to Sri Gaura–Saraswati, the holy embodiment of mercy in the line of Sri Bhaktivinod Thakur'.

প্রকাশিলে গৌরসেবা ভূবনমঙ্গল ।
ভখতিসিদ্ধান্ত শুদ্ধ প্রজ্ঞান উজ্জ্বল ॥

prakasile gaura-seva bhuvana mangala
bhakatisiddhanta suddha prajnana ujjvala

'Revealing service to Sri Gaura, which spreads auspiciousness in this world, you presented devotional teachings (bhakti-siddhanta) that radiate self-effulgent pure transcendental knowledge'.

Guru Maharaj also wrote about Bhakti Vinod Thakur,

গুরুদং গ্রন্থদং গৈরধামদং নামদং মুদা
ভক্তিদং ভূরিদং বন্দে ভক্তিবিনোদকং সদা

guru-dam grantha-dam gaura-dhama-dam nama-dam muda
bhakti-dam bhuri-dam vande bhakti-vinodakam sada

"I perpetually offer my obeisance unto Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur. Guru-dam: he is the bestower of Sri Guru (Bhagavan Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur). Grantha-dam: he is the author of numerous commentaries, treatises, articles, novels and songbooks. Gaura-dhama-dam: he is the revealer of the abode of Sriman Mahaprabhu. Nama-dam: he is the giver of the Name. Bhakti-dam: he is the granter of pure devotion. Bhuri-dam: he is the bestower of an abundance of divine fortune."

Bhakti Vinod Thakur gave us Guru—if Bhakti Vinod Thakur had not come, we would not have got Prabhupad Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur. In the same way, if Prabhupad had not come, we would not have got Guru Maharaj, and if Guru Maharaj had not come, we would not have got our Gurudev. They have come to the parampara for preaching, to give us an opportunity to glorify them.

tomara mahima gai hena sadhya mora nai
tabe pari yadi deha sakti

"I have no capacity to sing your glories, but I can sing them if you give me the power."

adosa-darasi tumi adhama patita ami
nija-gune ksamiva amare

"You never see anyone's faults, and I am extremely fallen. Please forgive me for being what I am."

"Prabhu, I do not have any qualification to glorify you, it is impossible to glorify you, but if you give me some mercy, I can do something a little bit." This is written there.

Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur left on this day, but we must remember his words.

Before, when Chaitanya Math opened in Mayapur, the area was all jungle, forest, but Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur said, "From here (Chaitanya Math) to the ghat, four kilometres, there will be temples both sides of the road."

One time, he was walking with devotees from Chaitanya Math to Nabadwip Dham station, crossing the river. At that time the road was a mud road, there was no proper road and people would pass stool in the street, both sides of the road. That day it had been raining very much, and one of the brahmacharis accompanying Prabhupad walked holding his nose with his hand.

"Why are you closing your nose?" Prabhupad asked him.

"Prabhu, the smell is too bad..."

"But I am not getting any bad smell! I am getting only the smell of incense!" answered Prabhupad.

পৃথিবীতে আছে যত নগরাদি গ্রাম
সর্ব্বত্র প্রচার হইবে মোর নাম

prithivite achhe yata nagaradi grama
sarvatra prachara haibe mora nama

"My Name will spread to every village and town on this earth."

Mahaprabhu predicted this, and Prabhupad fulfilled it through A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj, Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, Gurudev. Now, in every village, all day, all night there is Hari-katha and kirtan going on. Gurudev said also, "Sun never sets in Chaitanya Saraswat Math." We did yesterday the festival in Bamunpara, and I got a phone called from America, they were doing the Vyasa Puja festival, one day later in our time. Every day there is a programme running, and Gurudev's katha is preached all the time all over the world—there is always preaching, always some class going on, all day and night—in some place it is night, but in another place it is day. In this way, our preaching movement, as well as glorification of Gurudev, glorification of Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur are continuing all over the world.

sri-gauranga-parisada thakura bhakti-vinoda
dina-hina patitera bandhu
kali-tamah vinasite anilena avanite
toma' akalanka purna indu

Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur is an associate of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu and a friend of all low and fallen souls—to dispel all darkness of this dark age, he brought to this earth you, a spotless full moon.

To finish the influence, the darkness of Kali (Kali-tamah), Bhakti Vinod Thakur brought Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur just as Advaita Acharya and Haridas Thakur brought Mahaprabhu. What is necessary for that? Nothing, Advaita Acharya did not pay any money—what did he use? Do you know? Only a Tulasi leaf and a drop of Ganges water. The Lord comes to those who have devotion. "Bhakta More bandhiya rakhiya hrdaya kamale: devotees have tied Me to the lotus of their hearts." You must keep the Lord in your heart with the help of devotion, you must keep Gurudev in your heart with the help of devotion, you do not need any money, wealth or anything else for this. If you serve Gurudev and want something from him in return, it is not service—it is like a grocery shop (you are paying some money and in lieu of that you are getting some mustard oil). If you serve your Guru and in lieu of that you are asking for something, you have a desire mood, it is karma. What is the result of karma? When you do karma, you get bondage of the karma. What is the result of that bondage? You go to hell. Always remember this—the result of karma is bondage, and the result of bondage of karma is suffering in hell.

যেই ভজে, সেই বড়, অভক্ত—হীন, ছার ।
কৃষ্ণভজনে নাহি জাতি-কুলাদি বিচার ॥

yei bhaje sei bada, abhakta—hina, chhara
krsna-bhajane nahi jati-kuladi-vichara

"Only a nondevotee can be considered as worthless and abominable: anyone who takes to devotional service is great—there is no consideration of class, caste or any other status for those who have taken up service to Krishna."

Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Antya-lila, 4:67

Mahaprabhu said that even a sudra can be more qualified than a brahman, and Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur, our Gurudev proved this, and you can see now that Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur's words are preached now all over the world...
