Question: It is said in the scriptures we cannot attain anything without the mercy of the spiritual master, how can we know that our service or our intention is reaching the heart of Gurudev?

Through practising. You can easily check and understand it yourself. You can ask yourself if you are getting pleasure, if you are getting taste through your service or not, then you can understand easily whether you are proceeding in your spiritual life or not. Practise properly and you will easily understand whether your service is going to the Guru or going another way.

Actually, sincere devotees do not think, "Oh, my service is going to my Guru," "My Guru is happy with my service." It is not necessary to think about this. You have your duty, and your only duty is to do the service. Do not think whether your service is going to the Guru or not, you should only do your service—"Gurudev prescribed me the medicine, and I will take that medicine. He is the proprietor, he is the doctor, so it is his business whether he will cure me or not. I am his servant, I am a patient, it is not my business. My duty is to take the proper medicine at the proper time."

Gaurangera Duti Pada
'One whose wealth is Sri Gauranga's feet knows the essence of devotion's rasa. The heart of one who hears Sri Gauranga's sweet Pastimes becomes pure.'

Durlabha manava-janma
'When this body drops dead, what will remain ‘mine'? Upon death neither my sons nor my family will give me any satisfaction.'

A sadhu's character is tolerance; a sadhu's character is to excuse, to forgive the person.
If a sadhu cannot forgive an offence, he is not a sadhu, not a Vaishnav.
