Karma-Buddhi His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
If you are attached to what you are doing (karma), if you enjoy with the result of your actions, that is not service, but karma. If you are doing some service but thinking only about the result, then you are not a karma-sannyasi; on the other hand, if even a great sinner (a person who has committed many sins before) does some karma but does not want liberation, does not want any result from that karma—if they have no desires, they simply do their work without dvesa (aversion to anything that goes against one's enjoyment), himsa (envy or violence)—such person becomes a karma-sannyasi. If you do something and hope to get some result, it is called karma-buddhi (mentality attached to karma), and if you do something without desiring any result, then it is karma-sannyas. So, when you do some service, you must understand that the result belongs to the Lord—He is the master, the owner of the result. If you do some service and want to get something in return, this is not asakati-rahita (being free from attachment). You must be asakti-rahita (you must have no attachment). Radhastami is coming soon and we are going to Hapaniya to pay our obeisance there.
রাধাপদাঙ্কিত ধাম বৃন্দাবন যার নাম
radha-padankita dhama, vrndavana yara nama, "Those who have not worshipped the abode named Vrindavan, that is decorated by the lotus-like Radha..." ('Radhika charana padma' by Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur) Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj appeared in Hapaniya... ...If somebody does some karma, but they do not hope to get any result from that karma (they have no attachment to the result), then they can get out of the bondage of karma. Just as a lotus grows in water but it is not affected by water—in the same way, you can do some karma but not be affected by it, then you will not get caught in the net of karma; and if you engage in karma and create bondage with that karma, you will not be able to get out.
