Krishna's Dearmost His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Today is Sri Radhastami day—the appearance day of Srimati Radharani. We sing today,
রাধা-ভজনে যদি মতি নাহি ভেলা ।
radha-bhajane yadi mati nahi bhela "If you do not worship Srimati Radharani, your worship of Krishna is nothing." Radharani is non-different from Gurudev.
সাক্ষাদ্ধরিত্বেন সমস্ত-শাস্ত্রৈ-
saksadd-haritvena samasta-sastrair "I offer my obeisance unto the lotus feet of Sri Guru, who is said by all the scriptures to be the Lord Himself, and considered to be so by the sadhus, yet is also the Lord's beloved devotee." (Sri Sri Gurvastakam, 7) Who is the dearmost of Krishna? Srila Vishvanath Chakravarti Thakur explains in this Vandana that Srimati Radharani is the dearmost of Krishna, and Gurudev is non-different from Her. You know that Krishna Himself serves the lotus feet of Srimati Radharani at the seva-kunja. This is a very high conception. Even Srimad Bhagavatam does not say anything about Srimati Radharani, but the deepest devotee, who know Radharani can take detect Radharani's conception there and extract it from Srimad Bhagavatam. Srimad Bhagavatam does not even mention Her Name, but actually everything is there—you can understand it easily if you search Radharani's glorification in it. We observe this day in a beautiful way, spending it in discussions of the glories of Srimati Radharani, of Her service and love. রাধার দাসীর কৃষ্ণ সর্ব্ব বেদে বলে radhara dasira krsna sarva-vede bole "Krishna is the property of the maid servants of Srimati Radharani. All Vedas say this." (Gitavali, Sri Radhastaka, by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur) Without service to Radharani's lotus feet, no service can be possible. If, however, we can serve the servitors, the associates of Radharani (Lalita Devi and others), then we can get the supreme benefit. Srimati Radharani is Krishna's Hladini-sakti. Krishna is source of all powers, and She is the power. If you do not get service to your Gurudev, you cannot get Krishna; in the same way, if you do not serve Srimati Radharani, you cannot get Krishna, and Gurudev is non-different from Srimati Radharani, therefore it is necessary to serve the Guru. One time Krishna showed His pastime that He had a fever. A doctor came and said to Krishna's mother, "Your son is very sick, you need to give Him water from the Yamuna. The water must be brought in a pot with holes, and only a very chase lady who has never seen another man's face can bring it." Krishna's Mother thought, "Who can be such a chase lady here in Vraja?..." There was Jatila and Kutila, but when they tried they could not bring it—many other ladies who were considered chaste tried to bring water in a holed pot but nobody succeeded. Then, the Lord again came in disguise of a doctor and advised to Mother Yasoda, "You are looking for a chase lady in this area—go to Radharani." Then, Mother Yasoda Herself went to Radharani and asked Her, "Dear, please come. My son is not well." Radharani understood that it was Krishna's pastimes, so remembering Krishna, She took a clay pot, put a Tulasi leaf inside and went to the Yamuna praying, "Krishna, You can do anything. What can I do? You please arrange everything." Then, She scooped some water with the pot and Krishna Himself held the water in the pot. Then, the water was given to Krishna and He got well. In this way Krishna shows that Srimati Radhika is His dearmost.
