Abhidheya: the Main Practice

What is the main abhidheya, the main practising life? To do sankirtan yajna under the guidance of the Guru and Vaishnavs and without offence. That is the main abhidheya. There is sambandha, abhidheya, and prayojan: in a gist, it means establish relation and practise—without practice it is not perfect.

Many kinds of offenders can be rescued through this process. Everybody lives in their own way, but there is somebody who is always keeping a diary for us—writing there all our karma-phal of the past and present. Through Vaishnav seva, through Harinam sankirtan that diary can be destroyed, along with all our previous karma-phal. Now is the main opportunity for that.

Sripad Jajavar Maharaj was the last sannyasi of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur. When he was taking sannyas, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur said to him with a smile, "Why are you afraid? You are going to jump into the place where there is no fear." When you jump somewhere, do not look behind—you know that maya is very strong; slowly, slowly, it gives more and more problems.

Why do we do kirtan? Why do we do service? We must understand it, then we will get happiness through our service. That is the main abhidheya. If you follow abhidheya properly—if you engage in sankirtan under the guidance of Guru, Vaishnav, without offence—anger will not come.

We have so many books, but we do not read them. We did not print books to use them as a paper plate for chanachur or samosas. When you get time, read the books. It is very important.

দীনেরে অধিক দয়া করে ভগবান্ ।
কুলীন, পণ্ডিত, ধনীর বড় অভিমান ॥

dinere adhika daya kare bhagavan
kulina, pandita, dhanira bada abhimana

Those who have a high birth, knowledge and wealth are so proud of themselves, but the Lord is so merciful to those who are poor and needy.

Everybody has some quality, and that quality should be used for service. Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, Gurupad-padma also, told, "Everybody can run with a good person, but who can run with a bad person?" Everybody can run with the people who have good qualities, but who can run with the crazy people?
