Gundicha Marjan: His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
So we have come with the parikrama here to the temple of Gundicha (Gundicha was the wife of King Indradyumna), and today is also Gundicha marjan. Sometimes we also call this temple "Masi bari" (aunt's house). The chariot of the Lord comes and stays at this house, and before the festival Mahaprabhu would take all the devotees and come here to clean the temple. What would He do first? First He cleaned with His hand (swept), then poured water and clean with water, and after that He would wipe everything with a cloth. What is the meaning of this Pastime? Cleaning the temple (Gundicha marjan) means we have so much dust in our hearts, we must remove this dust. There is so much dirt and dust, but once we clean the place in our heart, we can invite Bhakti Devi, the Lord, to come there. Unless you clean the place, Bhakti Devi will not come. So, it is no use to sweep just to show something to others... Actually Mahaprabhu taught by example. What did He say? He said to the devotees, "Let us see who collects more dirt and dust. One who collects more will have to feed all the devotees!" The devotees tried hard to clean, but when they put all the dust, sand, and so on, they had all collected in one place, Mahaprabhu's heap alone was still bigger, so Mahaprabhu said, "That means that today I will feed all devotees with Jagannath prasad!" Now we are going to pay obeisance to Lord Nrisinghadev [His temple is within the Gundicha temple compound], then go to Indradyumna sarovar, and return to our Sevak Bhavan....
