Sri Vishva Vaishnava Raja-Sabha

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Jagannath Mishra Ananda-mahotsav
24 March 2016

Today is the festival of Sri Jagannath Mishra—Jagannath Mishra ananda maha-mahotsav. Yesterday the Lord Himself was born and today Jagannath Mihra is making the festival. By the mercy of Gurudev, I have arranged today for the devotees to take prasadam early today, at 10:30-11:00 a.m. because at 11 a.m. a lot of people will come from the local area.

Everybody has some service, everybody has some duty, and we must follow it. I told last night that we would have the morning programme here, and we must open our hearts. Do you understand? We must not show something outside and have some other things inside, it is not good. In our spiritual life, it is always necessary to give up deceitful devotion. If you are not simple-hearted, you cannot become a devotee, so we must be simple-hearted. This is the main thing.

I also told yesterday that at the Jagannath Mishra's festival we would together do the Vishva Vaishnav Raja-Sabha here. I am also sick, but by the mercy of Gurudev, today I have got some of my voice back and I have got the chance to say something.

I must make this programme here in this area in this way. It is not necessary to hide anything, we must tell everything directly and openly, and also we must speak together—we must give chance to every language. Somebody cannot understand Bengali, somebody cannot understand English, it is OK—they can speak Russian language, Spanish language, Chinese language, Portuguese language, etc., no problem. Everybody can speak their own language, everything is possible. We have come here to be together, and everyone can speak their own language—if it can be translated into English and Bengali, that is good for the mission.

Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur said we would be chanting and dancing together. You might have heard that some mission does a separate parikrama for the Western devotees, but what happens? Now the Western and the Eastern devotees of that mission are fighting. So, we must make the programme together and each can speak their own language. I am not a scholar, I know only one language, so I do not have any qualification, but if all the devotees come and speak together, that is good.

Also, as I said, I am sick, but Gurudev told me, "The day after Gaura Purnima, you will sit together at Vishva Vaishnava Raja-Sabha," and it is my duty to do that, but how will I sit here without the Indian devotees? The Indian devotees are also a part of the mission, and I cannot leave them.

Gurudev has gone to the Western countries many times, but he did not get time to preach in Bengal. I only remember that in 1990 he went to Kandi, one time Srila Sridhar Maharaj sent him to Medinipur (the birthplace of Sripad Bhakti Sharan Shanta Maharaj), and another time devotees took Gurudev to Sirakala, Tajpur. So, in 25-26 years, I saw Gurudev went to Bengal only three times, but he gave me the responsibility to preach in Bengal and I am preaching, that is why you can see now how many devotees have come for this Nabadwip Dham parikrama, and day by day, year by year, the number of the devotees is increasing.

They are happy to sleep in the pandal, they are happy to sleep in the goshala, they are happy to sleep in the staircase, they are happy to sleep on the veranda—you can see how much austerity they are getting. For these reasons I cannot leave them, I cannot tell them I am going to speak only for the Western devotees. I must meet with them, I must talk with them, give them some time, so I cannot spend so much time speaking English now, but there are so many English speaking preachers here, and if it can be translated into Bengali, that is good.

Today is Srila Jagannath Mishra's ananda utsav, and this is a very good day. Today, we must tell something about Jagannath Mishra. How can we serve the Lord? When I was making the Ekachakra temple, I asked Gurudev and he told me to fist make the guest house because without devotees you cannot serve the Deities. He said to me, "When you make a temple, first make the guest house." This is important to understand. You see that I have started building the Nrisingha Palli temple, and I am renting a whole guest house there for the devotees to stay in. Also, we are making a temple in Tarakeshwar, and first I made a guest house there. This is Gurudev's order.

When I made the guest house in Ekachakra, I asked Gurudev, "What will be the name of the guest house?" and Gurudev gave the name, "Sri Hadai Pandit Sri Padmavati Smriti-kunja." So, without Hadai Pandit, without Padmavati how shall we get Sriman Nityananda Prabhu? If we do not get first Yasoda Mayi, Nanda Maharaj, we will not get Krishna, and in the same way if we do not serve Jagannath Mishra, Sachi Mata, we will not get Lord Nimai. So, we must serve Jagannath Mishra...

You think you will go to a secluded place to chant the Holy Name, but you will end up in a 'gita samsar'.
