Come and Hear

Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama adhivas day,

Yesterday we were saying, "Bhramite habe na ara ei tribhuvana: you do not have to wander any longer in these three worlds." We have fallen into the material world, but we do not have to take birth as a cow, goat, cat, etc. again—if you can truly make this Dham parikrama, then you will get relief from the parikrama of the samsara (material world). That is why sadhus repeatedly come to your houses, I too have gone to many of your houses—what for?

মহান্ত-স্বভাব এই তারিতে পামর ।
নিজ-কার্য্য নাহি তবু যান তার ঘর ॥

mahanta-svabhava ei tarite pamara
nija karya nahi tabu yana tara ghara

"It is the general practice of all saintly people to deliver the fallen. Therefore they go to people's houses, although they have no personal business there."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Madhya-lila, 8.39)

Even in Gurudev's times, I would go house to house, and when I did not go, I would think, "This is not good—as long as I have life in this body, I will go door to door and tell the people, "Krsna bol, sange chala, ei matra bhiksa chai. I am begging you for one thing only: come with us and chant 'Krishna'!" This is what I keep telling you again and again and this is what I will keep telling you, "Come, come for Nabadwip Dham parikrama! Come, chant the Holy Name of Krishna! Do the parikrama in the association of devotees!" I tell you this all the time, I invite you all the time.

You are sitting here now, beside this Chaitanya Saraswat Math, in Koladwip, beside Sada Siva Gangadhar—he can hear everything, he is the protector of Koladwip. Here is also Giriraj, Gupta-Govardhan. Nabadwip is hidden Vrindavan, and this Nabadwip is Gupta-Govardhan. You are sitting here now in front of Giriraj Govardhan, listening to Hari-katha, and from tomorrow you must listen to the glories of the Dham parikrama, attentively, not wandering here and there (otherwise you will not be able to understand anything). Have I not just told you that you must see the sadhu with your ears? You must try to see the sadhu with your ears, practise sravan with your ears. That is why it is said,

অন্য অভিলাষ ছাড়ি, জ্ঞান কর্ম্ম পরিহরি,
কায়মনে করিব ভজন ।
সাধুসঙ্গে কৃষ্ণসেবা, না পূজিব দেবী-দেবা,
এই ভক্তি পরম কারণ ॥

anya abhilasa chhadi, jnana karma parihari
kaya-mane kariba bhajana
sadhu-sange krsna-seva, na pujiba devi-deva
ei bhakti parama karana

"The topmost process of devotional service is to worship the Lord with body and mind, giving up desires for fruitive activities and mental speculation. One should serve Lord Krsna in the association of devotees without worshipping any demigods."

Devotees have come here from all over the world. Adhoksaja Prabhu has come from Mauritious, there are devotees from South Africa, from Russia. Srila Avadhut Maharaj brought many with him, Srila Janardan Maharaj came yesterday. Due to his old age, Srila Janardan Maharaj could not come last year, but he wrote to me in a letter, "I cannot come because of pain in my back, but the pain I feel from not being able to come for Nabadwip Dham parikrama is much worse." So, despite his poor health, he has still come, bringing Sripad Yudhamanyu Prabhu's ashes with him. Sripad Yudhamanyu Prabhu left this world for Gurudev's own place. Gurudev kept him here in China, and he left his body in China. Srila Janardan Maharaj went there first and then came here. So, I am finishing here and giving the microphone to him now. Our Sripad Bhakti Niskam Santa Maharaj will translate what he says into Bengali.
