The Lord gives you everything and He can take everything away, but still you do not do anything—janiya suniya visa khainu (জানিয়া শুনিয়া বিষ খাইনু), we know it, we heard about it, but still we take poison. That is why sadhu, Guru and great souls come in this world and, going door to door, tell everybody,
জীব জাগ, জীব জাগ, গোরাচাঁদ বলে ।
কত নিদ্রা যাও মায়া-পিশাচীর কোলে ॥
jiva jaga, jiva jaga, gorachanda bale
kata nidra yao maya-pisachira kole
Sri Gorachand says, "O souls, awake! O souls, awake! How much longer will you sleep in the lap of the witch Maya?"

"O sleeping jiva souls, wake up!" They come and try to explain something to us—we hear it but do not take it serious... The love and attachment that we should have for the Lord is not coming to us... When you feel the same kind of love for the Lord that you feel towards your wife, brothers, friends, etc., then you can understand that there is some service.
We must serve the Lord. One day we will leave—we have got this rare human birth and we must take advantage of this opportunity. When it is gone, you will not be able to do anything. We have got a great fortune to serve the Guru and Vaishnavs, to follow and be chaste to the Guru and Vaishnavs, to live as the Guru and Vaishnavs tell us to live, and if we can use this opportunity, then our life will be successful. Do you understand it? We must always remember this.
কৃষ্ণ ভুলি' সেই জীব অনাদি-বহির্ম্মুখ ।
অতএব মায়া তারে দেয় সংসারাদি-দুঃখ ॥
krsna bhuli' sei jiva anadi-bahirmukha
ataeva maya tare deya samsaradi-duhkha
Having forgotten Krishna, the soul wanders throughout the universe. Being thus covered by illusion, the soul goes through all kinds of material suffering.

We have forgotten the Lord and as a result we are now burning in the three-fold miseries (adhibhautik, adhidaivik, adhyatmik, আধিভৌতিক, আধিদৈবিক, আধ্যাত্মিক: miseries caused by one's body, by the nature, and other souls)...
