(9/9) Eternal Deities of Eternal Servants His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
So, I have told you some pastimes of Deities' appearance. Actually, there are so many stories that we could spend the whole day talking about it. There is also the pastimes of Ksir-chor Gopinath and Saksi-gopal that we hear about from Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita. You may have also heard about Arjuna Misra as well as the pastimes of Jayadev Goswami and Padmavati that took place in Chapahatti. The Lord personally came disguised as Jayadev Goswami, wrote the missing lines of his Gita-Govinda and took some prasad from Padmavati's hand. This should be your attitude and vision towards Deities. Our Deities are not the same as the deities you can see in this outside world. People install deities, perform worship and then discard them and carry on their lives. In this outside world, when people worship Durga, Kali and other gods, they fill their stomachs to the brim with meat and fish and then they discard the deity and come back home. The Deities that are being installed here are not like that. They must be served eternally, every single day without fail. The Deities of the Lord are installed for eternity, so Their service must continue eternally. You must offer bhog every single day. Serve the Lord every single day. Please remember all these things. We turned away from the Lord and have been living in this aversion since time immemorial. Forgetting the Lord, we end up suffering the agony of threefold miseries. If you want to get relief from this misery, you must take shelter in Gaura. You have heard us chant in one of the kirtans:
যদি গৌর না হ'ত তবে কি হইত
yadi gaura na ha'ta tabe ki ha-ita 'If Gaura had not come, what would have happened? How would we have lived? Who would have revealed to the world Radha’s glory and the extremes of Her ecstatic divine love?' (Srila Vasudev Ghosh Thakur) If Gauranga Mahaprabhu had not come, who in this world would be able to know the glory of Srimati Radharani? Will there ever be anybody as merciful as Gauranga?
তব নিজ-জন কোন মহাজনে
tava nija-jana kona mahajane 'You have sent a great soul, Your associate (to rescue me). Seeing me so fallen and being merciful, he came and spoke to me.' (Saranagati, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur) [His Divine Grace converses informally with a few devotees and invites them to join the forthcoming parikrama of Sri Puri Dham and South India explaining the parikrama programme and also mentioning the future parikrama of Sri Govardhan, Vrindavan, Badarikashram, etc.] Jay saparikara Sri Sri Guru Gaura-Nityananda Prabhu ki jay. Please come everybody. Offer your obeisances and take the darshan of the Lordships. Do not enter the Deities' room – offer your obeisances outside. [His Divine Grace finishes the programme.]
