(6) 'Take Me With You!''

শুনিয়া আমার দুঃখ বৈষ্ণব ঠাকুর ।
আমা’ লাগি’ কৃষ্ণে আবেদিবেন প্রচুর ॥

suniya amara duhkha vaisnava thakura
ama’ lagi’ krsne avedibena prachura

‘Hearing about my sorrow, worshippable Vaishnav Thakur will ardently pray to Krishna on my behalf.’

If I tell a Vaishnav about my sadness, Vaishnav Thakur will pray to Lord Krishna for me – he will send my letter to the Lord, or he will tell the Lord about me. He will say, 'This devotee is suffering so much in his material bondage. O Lord! Please save him from this material world! He wants to take shelter at Your holy feet.' What does Krishna do next?

বৈষ্ণবের আবেদনে কৃষ্ণ দয়াময় ।
এ হেন পামর প্রতি হবেন সদয় ॥

vaisnavera avedane krsna dayamaya
e hena pamara prati habena sadaya

‘Hearing Vaishnav Thakur’s appeal, merciful Lord Krishna will take pity on this wretched sinner.’

Krishna Thakur will take pity on such a fallen, lowly soul as me and give me the right to serve His holy feet and His devotees. He will engage me in His service.

Who can give you the right to serve Lord Krishna? Krishna belongs to Radharani, so only She can engage one in His service. In the line of madhura-rasa, we say that Srimati Radharani is nondifferent from gurudev. So, if I pray to gurudev, he will give me the right to serve Lord Krishna. In the line of sakhya-rasa, gurudev is nondifferent from Sri Nityananda Prabhu. So, if anybody asks you, 'Who is your gurudev?' you must know the answer. You must say, 'My guru is Srimati Radharani Herself', or 'My gurudev is Lord Nityananda Prabhu Himself.'

বিনোদের নিবেদন বৈষ্ণব চরণে ।
কৃপা করি সঙ্গে লহ এই অকিঞ্চনে ॥

vinodera nivedana vaisnava charane
krpa kari’ sange laha ei akinchane

‘Bhaktivinod prays at the holy feet of Vaishnavs: “Please take this destitute soul with you.”’

Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur prays, 'Prabhu! Please do not go to the Lord alone! I want to go with you. Please take me with you!' Sadhus, gurus, Vaishnavs come to beg from people. What do they beg for? ‘I am begging you for one thing only: come with us and chant the Holy Name of Krishna (Krsna bala, sange chala, ei matra bhiksa chai; কৃষ্ণ বল, সঙ্গে চল, এই মাত্র ভিক্ষা চাই)!’ Vaishnav Thakur approaches everybody begging them for this. Sri Gurupadpadma and Vaishnavs do not go to anybody's house to get food, clothes or money! They come so that the people in this world can come to this path.

Mahaprabhu took so much trouble – He roamed everywhere looking for His lost children. I was thinking the other day how far Ramkeli is from Mayapur and Nabadwip. We were driving past two days ago, and I told my driver to stop there. It is in the Malda district, about three kilometres from the Bangladesh border. When I was there, I was thinking about how Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu walked all the way there. It is a Muslim area, under a Muslim king, but He came there and sent two government ministers, the brothers Dabir Khas and Sakar Mallik, to Vrindavan. He came and changed their whole lives. He gave them the names Sri Rupa and Sri Sanatan and sent them to Govardhan. Why? He told them, 'I will stay in Puri on the order of My Mother, I will not be able to go to Vrindavan that often, I will not be in this world that long. But you two must go and rescue that place. Rescue all the places where I performed My pastimes before.' I was thinking about all this when I was in Ramkeli...
