(2/5) Parikrama Programme

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Vrindavan Dham, evening class
31 October 2019, part 2
Translated from Bengali

We must always chant Krishna-kirtan, Hari-kirtan. Through Krishna-kirtan, we can progress further and further in our spiritual lives. So, let us chant some kirtan now, and after that I will again speak some Hari-katha.

Try to go to bed early today and wake up early because we have a long day tomorrow. We will be walking the whole day. I had some service today in the morning, that is why we started out a little late, at about nine o'clock, but tomorrow we must leave by six in the morning. We will first go Nikunjavan (Seva-Kunja) – taking darshan of Nikunja-van, Radha-Damodar and offering obeisances at the samadhi-mandir of Srila Rupa Goswami, we will then go to Nidhuvan. There are many temples near Nidhuvan, but we will go to the samadhi-mandir of Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami and for the darshan of the Radha-Raman Deity whom he served. The temple is not open all the time – they close it at certain times, so it is actually a problem to visit it. The situation is the same with the Deity of Gopinath.

So, we will come to take darshan of Sri Radha-Raman who was served by Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami and Sri Gopinath who was served by Srila Madhu Pandit. After that, we will go to Vamsivat, the place where rasa-lila is going on eternally. There is also Gopeshwar Mahadev who always stays next to it. We will sit at Vamsivat and speak some Hari-katha. After that, we will go to Lala Babu's temple. It closes at eleven o'clock, so we must try to make it before that. All temples actually are closed in the afternoon, that is why we must leave early tomorrow. Even if you do not have time to eat and go to the bathroom, do not mind it, we must leave early. We must leave right after the morning arati. It is necessary, so you can adjust.

Then we will go to Jagatsen's temple (or 'sonar tal gach' as you all call it). After that, we will visit the temple of Sri Govindaji and come back to the temple. Later in the afternoon, we will go out for a short parikrama to the temple of Banki Bihari. Next to Banki Bihari, there is a place called Advaitavat and not far from there is the temple of Sri Madan-mohan who appeared through Srila Sanatan Goswami. There is another Deity in the temple now, but the original Deity was taken to Karauli (we will go there in a few days).

This is our parikrama plan for tomorrow.

The day after tomorrow we will go by buses to Gokula, Mahavan. First, we will go to Mathura (to the birthplace of Lord Krishna), after that to Brahmanda Ghat, Raman Reti, then to the place where the twin Yamalarjuna trees were broken by Krishna and where the two sons of Kuver, Nalakuvar and Manigriv, were rescued. From there, we will go to Gokula, where Krishna lived in His infancy and where the temple with eighty-four pillars is. After that, we will go to the house of Lord Balaram, Dauji Mandir ('dauji' means 'elder brother'). Finally, we will visit Ravel, the birthplace of Srimati Radharani.

This is our programme. Remember it. We will go by buses and return by buses, too. Now let us chant a few kirtans. Please listen carefully.

Mahaprabhu told Srila Raghunath Das Goswami:

বৃন্দাবনে গিয়া না থাকিয়া চির কাল ।
গোবর্দ্ধনে উঠিয়া না দেখিয়া গোপাল ॥

vrndavane giya na thakiya chira kala
govardhane uthiya na dekhiya gopala

'When you go to Vrindavan, do not stay there for a long time and do not climb the Govardhan Hill to see Gopal.'

Mahaprabhu prohibited him to climb on top of Govardhan. You can see that many people climb on top of the hill and take photos or selfies. They are making such a big offence. We have no right to do this.

Today, we first went to Imlitala, then to Chir Ghat (where Krishna stole gopis' clothes), Keshi Ghat (where Krishna defeated the Keshi demon), then we went to Visramvat, Kaliya Daha, then passing the temple of Sri Madan-mohan on the way, we came back.

Next to our temple here in Vrindavan is Sri Radha-Damodar temple. It is also Sri Damodar month now... Next to Sri Radha-Damodar temple is the samadhi-mandir of Srila Rupa Goswami. The house where you are staying (just opposite the temple) is Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami's bhajan-kutir. Here in the temple, you can see two sets of Deities: the small Deities are Sri Sri Radha-Rasa-bihari, and the big Deities were installed and named Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharva Radha-Rasa-bihari later by Gurudev.

I mostly speak Bengali, but there are many devotees here who speak other languages, so it is also necessary to speak English. Some also do not know English, they understand only Spanish, but actually the language of devotion is another matter. The true language is the language of devotion.

So, it is the niyom-seva month; let us chant kirtan now.

[His Divine Grace starts chanting evening kirtans.]

Where Your Desire
Can Take You
Two lessons taught by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu: both King Prataparudra and Damodar Pandit had strong desire for Mahaprabhu's mercy and earnestness in service, but was their attainment the same?

If we practise, we will be able to believe, but our problem is that if we do not see
something we do not believe in it. That is the problem.
