Primary and Paramount Necessity

Devotee: We have got an invitation to speak at a college programme to the students and professors. Could you advise what we should tell them? They want to discuss pure consciousness and beyond...

Actually, you are preaching at such conferences so much... It is good—you can give them a class on Srimad Bhagavad-gita. This is the main thing. You can tell them what Krishna told Arjuna. It is good for newcomers and new devotees to hear this. You can tell them what Srimad Bhagavad-gita tells—these things are very much necessary for new devotees. Teach Srimad Bhagavad-gita everywhere, it will be good. People can easily understand it. Srimad Bhagavad-gita is the primary book, because most people cannot understand Srimad Bhagavatam or Chaitanya-charitamrita, it is very difficult for them, but everybody knows Srimad Bhagavad-gita, so everybody can easily understand its message.

Also, scientists' research is always involved with the body—they never research anything related to the soul. They do not think. One engineer is making a building and says that the building will last two hundred years, but he does not know how many years he has in his own lifetime. So, they must understand what is necessary in one's life, what is the purpose of getting this human body—what this body is meant for. This body is not only for eating, sleeping, and enjoying. You must use this body in a proper way. I am not saying they must stop eating, sleeping, and enjoying, but at the same time, the Lord has sent you into this human body, so what is the need for that? Why is it necessary to get a human body? What is its purpose? If you live like cats and dogs, then what is the difference between you and cats and dogs? If you only sleep and eat, then you are doing the same thing as animals do.

You can tell them about these things, it will be good for them and they can easily understand it also. After that, they can gradually understand Subjective Evolution, they can read this book. Mainly, they must read Srimad Bhagavad-gita, it will be good for them.

ভকত-সেবা পরম-সিদ্ধি

"The dust of pure devotees' feet is favourable to devotion. Serving the devotees is the supreme fulfilment and the root of the creeper of divine love."

Serving pure devotees is favourable to devotion; the greatest perfection is attained through service to devotees; and service to devotees is the root of transcendental love for Lord Sri Krishna (Krishna-prema). If you want to get Krishna-prema, you must serve Krishna's devotees. This is the main thing. Krishna-prema is the highest, ultimate attainment, and you can get it easily if you serve devotees of Krishna with heart and soul. If you can do that, it will be good for you.

All right, all devotees must be tired, it is also ekadasi today. We will meet again next Sunday. Everybody should pray to the Lord for the well-being of all devotees all over the world. This year 2020 has brought so many kinds of danger, so many bad things are going on now all over the world. At this time, everybody should stay in good health. May Krishna protect all devotees all over the world. I always pray about it to Gurudev, Lord Nityananda, Lord Gauranga, Lord Krishna, Nrisinghadev, and Prahlad Maharaj. I pray that all devotees may overcome this situation and that we all may meet again on Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's appearance day at Gaura Purnima and Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama. I still do not know if there will be Vrindavan Dham parikrama this year or not, but I want to say that we want to take devotees to Kedarnath and Badrinath one time in 2021. The pilgrimage will be some time after Gaura Purnima and before Ratha Yatra. We want to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath (Gangotri and Yamunotri). We are thinking that 2021 will start in a very nice way...
