I am very happy to see you all after one week. I can see that all the devotees are here.

I have been doing some preaching programmes lately and came back to Kolkata last night. It is Sunday, I decided to take a day off today, so today is my holiday. [His Divine Grace laughs] I am taking a little rest. I have not had any time to rest lately, so I thought that I would take some rest today, and it happened so.

It was Sriman Mahaprabhu’s sannyas day recently, on poila magh (the first day of the Magh month), as we call it here in Bengal, or 15 January this year (the day before yesterday). The date of this day actually never changes. Mahaprabhu’s sannyas day (poila magh) is always on the same date every year. It is not calculated as a tithi (lunar day). Sankranti, which is in the month of Paush, is the day when Mahaprabhu left Nabadwip for Katwa to take sannyas from Srila Keshav Bharati to teach us all. And Srimati Vishnupriya Devi gave her Lord, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, to all fallen souls like us – she showed such a great sacrifice in her life.

This day and time is extremely pathetic for all residents of Nabadwip. Even those who used to criticise Mahaprabhu also cried for Him later. At first, they thought that what Mahaprabhu was doing was not good, but later, when Mahaprabhu left Nabadwip, they thought about it and understood that they had made a mistake, that they had treated Mahaprabhu in a rude way. So, in the end, even those who treated Mahaprabhu bad cried for Him.

In the time of our Param Guru Maharaj, Srila Sridhar Maharaj did not come out of his bhajan-kutir for three days. During these three days, he would take only rice and some subji mixed with dal. He would not take anything opulent. Sometimes we go out for preaching programmes, and we cannot observe this time properly because devotees make so much prasadam for us… What can we do?

This year, I had to go to Nabadwip on this day. I was in Nabadwip on 15 and 16 January because I have much service there. I had to start the construction of the Prasadam Hall and see to the construction of the guesthouse. I have bought the land for the Prasadam Hall near the outbuilding kitchen, right next to the temple. Some money was due for that land, and I came to give it to the landowner. Now I must start the construction there.
