By becoming attracted to Nityananda Prabhu, you can rescue yourself from this terrible material world.

Those who forget Krishna have no memory, no knowledge of Krishna.

কৃষ্ণ-বহির্ম্মুখ হঞা ভোগ বাঞ্ছা করে ।

নিকটস্থ মায়া তারে জাপটিয়া ধরে ॥

krsna-bahirmukha hana bhoga vanchha kare
nikatastha maya tare japatiya dhare

"When souls become averse to Krishna and desire enjoyment, nearby Maya seizes them."

(Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 6.2)

কৃষ্ণ ভুলি' সেই জীব অনাদি-বহির্ম্মুখ ।
অতএব মায়া তারে দেয় সংসারাদি-দুঃখ ॥

krsna bhuli' sei jiva anadi-bahirmukha
ataeva maya tare deya samsaradi-duhkha

Having forgotten Krishna, the soul wanders throughout the universe. Being thus covered by illusion, the soul goes through all kinds of material suffering.

পিশাচী পাইলে যেন মতিচ্ছন্ন হয় ।

মায়াগ্রস্ত জীবের হয় সে ভাব উদয় ॥

pisachi paile yena mati-chchhanna haya
maya-grasta jivera haya se bhava udaya

"When someone is possessed by a ghost, they become bewildered. This condition overtakes souls bound by Maya."

(Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 6.3)

When you forget Krishna, the Master of the World, when you become removed from the service of the Lord, then Maya, who is always near, jumps and catches you.

কৃষ্ণ-বহির্ম্মুখ হঞা ভোগ বাঞ্ছা করে ।

নিকটস্থ মায়া তারে জাপটিয়া ধরে ॥

Srila Prabhupad says:

For as long as you remain oblivious towards Krishna, you will be cheated out of service to the Lord and you will remain in the clutches of Maya. Just as an ant always crawls everywhere looking for a hole, Maya is also always around us, always looking for hole to catch you. As soon as you forget the Lord and think about something else, Maya will jump on you:

You cannot practise Krishna consciousness without taking shelter at the holy lotus feet of Nityananda Prabhu. Many people think you can practise without a guru. This is a wrong conception. If you do not practise Krishna consciousness (if you do not worship and serve the Lord), do you know where you will go after death? To the abode of Lord Yama. You do not even need to worry about it—the road there is always laid. On account of one's pious merits, those who are averse to Krishna may get to heaven, and on account of sins they will go to hell and suffer from hellish miseries. Unless our intelligence does not awaken amidst the agony of the threefold miseries, how can we hope to attain any auspicious destination?

বিষয় ছাড়িয়া কবে শুদ্ধ হ'বে মন ।
কবে হাম হেরব শ্রীবৃন্দাবন ॥

visaya chhadiya kabe suddha habe mana
kabe hama heraba sri-vrndavan

"When will my mind, leaving the material world, become clean? When will I see Sri Vrindavan?"
