Strongest Faith (1)

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
10 May 2015, Sri Nabadwip Dham, part 6

One time, Gurudev was going outside Nabadwip. He came out of his room and got into his car. When I saw the car, I was in the office downstairs. I came out and paid obeisance to him. As I was paying obeisance, Gurudev asked me, "Will you go with me?" and I asked, "Where?" I only asked him where, but he said, "You are foolish. You do not have 100% surrender. Your Guru asks you if you will go with him, but you are asking where. Even if I go to hell, you must go to hell with me!"

Gurudev taught so many things...

"Sraddha-anusari bhakti-adhikari (শ্রদ্ধা-অনুসারী ভক্তি-অধিকারী, Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.22.64)—devotion comes through sraddha, faith. This is the main thing. What devotion you will have depends on what faith you have—the more faith in the Lord you have, the more devotion you will get.

The price for devotion is faith—you must buy devotion with faith. You cannot buy devotion with money, wealth, etc., you must pay with faith—the strongest faith. We can see examples of it in Mukunda's son Raghunandan, Gopal Bhatta Goswami's dvadas silas (twelve sila Deities)....

Sri Guru's Joy and Sadness
'When your preaching becomes more successful, when everyone proceeds in their spiritual life, when everyone is happy and increasing their service and spiritual life, then I become happy.'

Thakura vaisnava-gana
'O worshippable Vaisnavas, I offer you this prayer. I am very fallen and misbehaved. Destiny has immersed me in the fearsome ocean of material existence. Please grab me by the hair and pull me to the shore.'

We want to conquer the whole world, but we cannot even conquer ourselves—there are
so many enemies inside us.
