Entering Exclusive Service

I am very happy to see you all. There are many devotees waiting for me downstairs, and here you too are waiting for me. I am also very happy because there is Deities' installation here in one devotee's house—Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Radha Madhava Sundar.

Everyone is fortunate because there are going to be initiations in London; devotees want to engage themselves in service, want to serve more and more, and I am fortunate to help them. I am only a medium—that is my hope and fortune.

Tell me, does everyone chant the Holy Name properly?

—Yes, they do.

Very nice. The Holy Name is the main thing, you know that. You heard in Prema-vivarta what a Vaishnav aparadh can do. One dev-sisu, a god's child, made an offence to Durvasa Muni and become a crocodile, but after hearing the Holy Name he again became dev-sisu, a god's child. Through the Holy Name everything can be changed, and in this Age of Kali the Holy Name is the way to get Krishna, that is why the Holy name is the main thing in this Age of Kali.

Why do you want to take second initiation? The second initiation is necessary for cooking, for puja, and for engaging yourself in exclusive service. We have so many centres, and somebody has to do puja, somebody has to cook, that is why we make brahmins. That is the purpose of the second initiation.

Through the second initiation you are going to become a brahmin (that is why it is also known as a brahmin initiation), and you cannot recite the gayatri mantra everywhere. You can chant Harinam maha-mantra anywhere, even in the toilet, at school, college, university, at work, but this gayatri mantra is recited mainly in the morning and in the evening. If you can recite it three times (in the morning, at noon, in the evening), it is good, but if you do not have the opportunity, then you must recite the gayatri mantra in the morning and evening.

You must first take bath, put tilak on all twelve parts of your body, sit on a clean asan, then recite the gayatri mantra. You cannot do it anywhere, only in clean places, wearing clean clothes. In the morning you can recite it facing the East side, in the evening the North side. If you can recite gayatri in this way, it will be good for you.
