Today is the Jagannath Misra's ananda maha-mahotsav. 'Ananda' means gladness, joy. Yesterday Sri Jagannath Misra got a son, so today he is making a festival in His honour. This is actually not an ordinary son – although He came as a son, He is actually Lord Himself who came to rescue all fallen souls.

Sriman Mahaprabhu's appearance has taken place, all the devotees celebrated and observed His appearance day, and now you are very busy getting ready to go home...

In Srila Prabhupad's time, when this festival finished, everybody wanted to come and pay obeisance to him, but Srila Prabhupad Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur was hiding from everybody and crying. He saw that people were going back to Maya's world. When somebody found him, Srila Prabhupad said to everybody, 'Please do not forget me. You have stayed here for seven days, did this parikrama, and I have entered into some relationship with you all, but please do not cheat me. Do not forget me, do not forget Mahaprabhu.' Srila Prabhupad always said this on this day today.

You have your homes, your families – you have got these things in this lives. You are busy with them the whole day – you eat and take care of your material families every day – but every day you must also sincerely remember Krishna, chant the Holy Name, chant sankirtan, offer bhoga and take the Lord's prasadam. You should continue doing properly your service in this way, it will be good for you. ‘Ye dina grhe bhajana dekhi grhete goloka bhaya (যে দিন গৃহে ভজন দেখি গৃহেতে গোলোক ভায়). Any day there is devotional service at home, I see Goloka manifest itself in it’ (Saranagati, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur). Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur says that the day when there is worship of the Lord happening at your house, there is Goloka Vrindavan existing in it. If there is Lord's service going on every day at your house, the Lord comes to eat at your house every day. When you offer bhoga, you must keep faith and understand, 'Krishna will come, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu will come, Gurudev will come to my home to take prasadam.' It does not matter what you cook – even if you cook Chinese food, Japanese food, Indian food, Mexican food, Colombian food or Venezuelan food. This is not a question. Krishna takes whatever His devotees give Him.

ভক্তের জিনিষ প্রভু লুটিপুটি খায় ।
অভক্তের জিনিষ প্রভু উলটি নাহি চায় ॥

bhaktera jinisa prabhu lutiputi khaya
abhaktera jinisa prabhu ulti nahi chaya

‘The Lord eats anything and everything when a devotee offers it to Him, but He does not want to take anything from a non-devotee.’

(Based on Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 2.9.185)

When a devotee gives something to the Lord with heart and soul, Krishna happily takes that food. Sometimes, He even takes it forcefully. You have heard that Srila Raghunath Das Goswami took rotten rice that even cows would not eat, with some salt, and Mahaprabhu forcefully took it from him. He tasted it and said, 'What kind of things are you eating here but not giving to Me?' It was rotten rice, but He took it and savoured it! You must undertand this. The Lord takes anything and everything from His devotees. When Mahaprabhu tasted that rotten rice, Svarup Damodar tried to stop Him, 'Prabhu, this is not suitable for You. Do not eat it, You will get sick!' But Mahaprabhu still took it, but when He was going to take another handful, then Svarup Damodar stopped Him. But Mahaprabhu said to Raghunath Das Goswami, 'You are taking nectar and not giving any to Me!'

‘The Lord eats anything and everything when a devotee offers it to Him, but He does not want to take anything from a non-devotee.’

(Based on Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 2.9.185)

Non-devotees cannot even give anything to the Lord. Even if they give some food, they do it for their own enjoyment, for material enjoyment. They cannot give anything properly.

You must understand this. These are the main things.

Narottam Das Thakur: Our Guru, Our Protector, Our Shelter
'Narottam Das Thakur is our Guru-varga. If you think how much he tried to preach, you will wonder, 'How is it possible?' You can understand how much he preached and how he protected our line if you think about his songs.'

“We cannot see or make out with our eyes who is a Vaishnav—even Brahma cannot recognise who is a great Vaishnav, or who is a servitor.”
