(7/16) Bogus Love, Bogus Claims
His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
You can plant a mango or a pawpaw tree at home, but this tree does not belong to you – even if you plant it, it does not mean that you have the right to take its fruit. You think, 'Why? I planted it, so my family and I will eat the fruit!' No. You can plant a tree, but you cannot give life to that tree. My parents have given me this body – if I take my blood and their blood and compare it, I will see that it is the same blood – but they did not produce that which I am. Remember this. My parents did not give me that which I am; they only gave me this body. I come from the Lord. When I leave this world, my body will stay here, and this body is what my parents will cry over, but I will go to Him whom I belong to – I will go to wherever He will send me to. I can come directly to Him or He can send me to another birth. Everybody gets a birth according to their karma (previous actions). As you sow, so you reap. Many people have asked me, 'Why do you not want to serve your parents?' I always reply, 'I want.' How so? Not in the way that everybody expects. For example, if a Vaishnav falls ill, we will try our best, heart and soul, to help them recover; but if a non-Vaishnav (a person who does not know and does not understand anything about God) is ill, we do not need to show so much love to them. This is not what 'jive prema' is about. People promote love for your neighbour (jive prema) – this is bogus love! They cry about love for others, but they do not think that goats, cows and other animals also have a soul. 'Jive prema kare yei jana sei jana sevichhe isvara (জীবে প্রেম করে যেই জন সেই জন সেবিছে ঈশ্বর). Love God by loving others.' Srila Sridhar Maharaj called the mission that uses this as their slogan a 'Murgi Mission' (Chicken Mission). 'Yata mat tata path (যত মত, তত পথ). There are many beliefs, so there are also many paths.' Is that so? Is everything really the same? You eat something today; but if, instead of putting food into your mouth, you put it into your ear or nose tomorrow, will the food go inside your body? So, how can you say that everything is the same? People who say such things have no sincerity. Politicians like to say that everything is the same, so they go everywhere – to a church, a temple or a mosque; they worship Kali, Durga and all other gods. This is prostitution. We do not want to be such fools. There are gurus in this world who go everywhere and give mantras to anyone and everyone. So, people go to some place and learn there, 'A'udhu billahi min-ash-shaytan ir-rajim. Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.' They learn it by heart and go along with it. Then, they go to another place, hear something from Gita and learn that, too. Then, they go somewhere else and hear, 'Dhanam dehi, vidyam dehi, rupam dehi, varyam dehi, kavitam dehi, sundarim dehi. Give me wealth, give me knowledge, give me beauty, give me a good wife, make me a poet, make me beautiful.' They pick that up, too. Then,
ওঁ সরস্বতি মহাভাগে বিদ্যে কমললোচনে ।
om sarasvati mahabhage vidye kamalalochane 'O great Goddess Saraswati, the personified knowledge possessing large lotus eyes! I offer obeisance to you, please give me knowledge.' Then, they go to a church and learn it in English, 'God is good.' They go place to place, hear all kinds of conceptions and accept everything, thinking that everything is the same. 'Whoever is in jail is a thief' – all are thieves there. Dal, kitchuri, sweet rice – everything is the same! Those who say such things cheat both others and themselves. This brings nothing good. Politicians do this only to gain votes. Those who have some good intelligence will understand that this is bogus, and it is these people whos we want to speak to. Many ask me, 'Maharaj, are you going to vote?' My answer is, 'Who will I vote for? Mahaprabhu is not listed there. If Mahaprabhu's Name was there, then I would go to vote.' Neither my Gurudev nor Srila Sridhar Maharaj voted – why will I? Those who go to Lanka turn into Ravans. People think, 'This is good', 'That is good' – all places are the same – but politicians do not do anything if it is not in their interests. They only know their own interests, nothing else. Somebody was a beggar before and lived off begging, but then their life changed and they became billionaires. We do not need to go and vote for such people. People accuse Mahaprabhu's devotees of sectarianism. But we are not like that. We do not discriminate or create parties – we love everyone, be they Hindus, Muslims or Christians. I have met many very nice, amiable Muslim people – when you come to see them, they offer you water, sweets, etc. They are hospitable and very hard-working. These are qualities that are being lost now, but there still are some good people in this world. Among millions of such people, you will find one wise person; among millions of wise people, you will find one liberated person; among millions of such liberated people, you will find only one devotee of Krishna. Even though the number of such devotees is very small, one such person can rescue the whole universe...
