(7/7) Worship Nitai

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Siliguri, 1 May 2019, evening, part 7
Translated from Bengali

Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami wrote, 'Those who respect Mahaprabhu but not Nityananda Prabhu are heretics! Half-hen logic!' We sing in one of the kirtans:

ভজহুঁ রে মন, শ্রীনন্দনন্দন,
অভয় চরণারবিন্দ রে ।

bhajahu re mana, sri-nanda-nandana,
abhaya charanaravinda re

‘Dear mind, serve the fearless holy lotus feet of the Son of Nanda.’

(Sri Govinda Das)

Just as Sri Govinda Das did not see eye to eye with his brother, Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami also had a fight with his brother over Sriman Nityananda Prabhu. The same day, Sriman Nityananda Prabhu came to him in a dream and said, 'Wake up! Wake up, Krishna Das! Do not stay in Jhamatpur – come to Vrindavan!' The next day he left home and went to Vrindavan. He got Nityananda Prabhu's mercy! His brother had brought home a brahman who showed no respect to Ramdas Minaketan, a servitor of Nityananda Prabhu. He had committed an offence.

We must always live worshipping Lord Nityananda Prabhu's holy feet. There is no other way, no other shelter, except for Sri Nityananda Prabhu's holy feet. We have books, Sri Nityananda Mahimamrita – take it and always read it at home.

Both Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu spoke of nothing but service to Lord Krishna in this world:

অনর্পিতচরীং চিরাৎ করুণয়াবতীর্ণঃ কলৌ
সমর্পয়িতুমুন্নতে'জ্জ্বলরসাং স্বভক্তিশ্রিয়ম্ ।
হরিঃ পূরটসুন্দরদ্যুতিকদম্বসন্দীপিতঃ
সদা হৃদয়কন্দরে স্ফুরতু বঃ শচিনন্দনঃ ॥

anarpita-charim chirat karunayavatirnah kalau
samarpayitum unnatojjvala-rasam sva-bhaktisriyam
harih purata-sundara-dyuti-kadamba-sandipitah
sada hrdaya-kandare sphuratu vah sachi-nandanah

'May the Supreme Lord, who is known as the son of Sri Sachi Devi, be transcendentally situated in the innermost core of your heart. Resplendent with the radiance of molten gold, He has descended in the age of Kali by His causeless mercy to bestow what no incarnation has ever offered before: the most elevated mellow of devotional service, the mellow of conjugal love.'

(Vidagdha-Madhava, 1.2, by Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu)

Only when our material desires stop completely will Sri Rupa-Raghunath's teachings be able to enter our ears – not before that. Until and unless we reach such a stage, their teachings will not enter our ears.

sri-krsna-chaitanya-daya karaha vichara
vichara karile chitte pabe chamatkara

‘Just consider Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s mercy! If you do, you will feel astonished in your heart.’

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.8.15)

One time, a brahman came to Mahaprabhu from Nabadwip and complained, 'Nityananda does this, this and this!' Mahaprabhu's reply to this brahman was very beautiful. He said,

madira yavani yadi nityananda dhare
tathapi brahmara vandya kahila tomare

‘Even if Nityananda Prabhu comes drunk, with a Muslim lady by His side, He is always worshippable for Lord Brahma.’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 3.6.123)

'Even if Nityananda Prabhu brings a drunk Muslim girl with Him, He has no fault – even then Lord Brahma will worship and pay obeisance to Him.' This is what Mahaprabhu said about Nityananda Prabhu.

naihati-nikate ‘jhamatapura’ name grama
tanha svapne dekha dila nityananda-rama

‘In the village of Jhamatapur, near Naihati, Lord Nityananda appeared to me in a dream.’

dandavat haiya ami padinu payete
nija-pada-padma prabhu dila mora mathe

‘I fell at His feet, offering my obeisances, and He then placed His lotus feet upon my head.’

‘উঠ’, ‘উঠ’ বলি’ মোরে বলে বার বার ।
উঠ’ তাঁর রূপ দেখি’ হৈনু চমৎকার ॥

‘utha’, ‘utha’ bali’ more bale bara bara
uthi’ tanra rupa dekhi’ hainu chamatkara

‘“Wake up! Wake up!” He told me again and again. Rising, I was greatly astonished to see His beauty.’

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.5.181–183)

guru-pada-padme rahe yara nistha-bhakti
brahmanda tarite se dhare maha-sakti

'One who has firm devotion to Sri Guru's lotus feet has a great power to deliver the whole universe.'

Those who have firm, unflinching devotion to their Gurupadpadma have the power to deliver the whole universe. It is necessary to have Sri Gurupadpadma's power to do this.

samsare para hai' bhaktira sagare
ye dubibe, se bhajuka nitaichandere

'May those who desire to cross over samsara and dive in the ocean of devotion serve Sri Nitaichand.''

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 1.1.77)

These are Mahaprabhu's words. Those who want to cross over heaven and the Viraja and enter the ocean of devotion, must worship Nityananda Prabhu. This is how scriptures describe His glories. And Mahaprabhu Himself said:

মদিরা যবনী যাদি নিত্যানন্দ ধরে ।
তথাপি ব্রহ্মার বন্দ্য কহিল তোমারে ॥

madira yavani yadi nityananda dhare
tathapi brahmara vandya kahila tomare

‘Even if Nityananda Prabhu comes drunk, with a Muslim lady by His side, He is always worshippable for Lord Brahma.’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 3.6.123)

...You can see Krishna wearing a turban on His head. Why is He wearing it? Which Krishna do we worship? Can you say it? Do we worship Dvaraka-Krishna or Vrindavan-Krishna? In Dvaraka, Krishna is king, and a king wears a crown. But in Vrindavan, Krishna a cowherd boy – He ties a turban on His head and goes to herd cows. He is a young boy...

Jay saparikara Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharva Govinda-sundar jiu ki jay.

Happy Birthday
'On your birthday you can ask the Lord, ask Gurudev only, 'Prabhu, please engage me more and more in serving You. I am a fallen soul, I have no quality or qualification, but You can engage me.' This is the way to celebrate a birthday, by doing Guru-puja..'

Bhog tyag, tyag tyag: renounce enjoyment and renounce renouncing.
