(7/12) Call Out to Gaura-Nitai
His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
The very meaning of human life is to awaken the longing to practise Krishna consciousness. Have you come to this world to become a 'mummy', 'daddy', 'granpa' or 'grandma'? The Universal Father has sent you here so that you call out and worship the Supreme Lord. You are created for this very purpose – to spend your life serving the Lord. You have got this human birth, you have taken birth in this pure land of Bharata (India).
ভারত-ভূমিতে হৈল মনুষ্য-জন্ম যার ।
bharata-bhumite haila manusya janma yara 'One who has taken birth as a human being in the land of India should take advantage of this birth by bringing benefit to others.' (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.9.41) You can often hear Bhagavat-katha, you have got a chance to see the Lord’s great devotees – those who do not want to cross this ocean of material existence having got such a fit helmsman, are committing suicide. Those who get such great opportunities but ignore them are misusing their human life. It is necessary to understand this. As a result of such misuse, you will never get a human birth again. Depending on the actions you perform in this birth you will get a corresponding body next life. 'Punar musiko bhava' ['Again Become a Mouse.' Once, a mouse was harassed by a cat. It approached a saintly person and asked him to turn it into a cat. When the mouse became a cat, and then it was harassed by a dog; when the cat became a dog, it was harassed by a tiger; but when the dog became a tiger, it stared at the saintly person – the saintly person asked the tiger, 'What do you want?' the tiger said, 'I want to eat you'; then the saintly person cursed it, saying, 'May you again become a mouse!'] Traversing different planes of life, in different lifetimes, sometimes you may also go down to lower species. There is no certainty. How many lifetimes will you cry? Your heart will be torn apart out of grief and sadness; how much austerity you will have to undergo goaded by the want and pain of illnesses! When you get a human birth, you get not only intelligence, but also good association. Such great opportunity has come before you, if you do not care for it and lose it, then you will burn in the agony of pain. If you want to get eternal and supreme peace in the transcendental world, then you must start practising Krishna consciousness from now – then you must get eternal benefit. Always remember this. I am composing a book (Guidance 4) where all this will be written. Read it. We are eternal servants of the Lord, but we forget this.
'কৃষ্ণ-নিত্যদাস'—জীব তাহা ভুলি' গেল ।
'krsna-nitya-dasa'—jiva taha bhuli' gela 'The jiva soul forgot that it is an eternal servant of Krishna. Because of this mistake, illusion threw its ropes around the soul's neck.' (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.22.24) Hearing His devotee's distressed call, the Lord could not remain peaceful in Goloka, thus He appeared in this material world. This is how Gauranga Mahaprabhu came in Kali-yuga answering the ardent calls of Sri Advaita Prabhu and Sri Haridas Thakur.
ha gaura-nitai, tora du’ti bhai, 'O Gaura, O Nitai! You, two brothers, are the friends of the fallen.' Fallen souls – those who are lowly and fallen – must call out to Gaura and Nitai. In this world, all jiva souls are given to enjoyment and sensual pleasures. 'I am a woman', 'I am a man', 'I am from this area', 'I am from that area' – everyone is full of ego. How far divine love is! It is not so easy to get it! But it is this love that we all must try to get. Sri Gaurasundar revealed Himself fully in His magnanimous pastimes. The Lord is merciful to the poor, so when He comes, He comes for such souls – He never rejects fallen souls. He is the rescuer of the fallen souls. To save these fallen souls Nitai Thakur had to shed much blood. The land of Nabadwip was moistened with a flow of His pure blood. Yet, did He stop giving divine love? He would shed blood to give love. We must always remember this Gaurasundar, we must always think about Him.
