Seeing your bright enthusiasm, I told ** Prabhu many times that I would come this year, so I have come at last. I know that many of you join local weekly programmes and also engage yourselves in eternal, daily service. You chant the Lord's glories, you worship the Lord. Many of you also join us during Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama, Sri Purusottam Ksetra parikrama (Sri Puri Dham parikrama) and Sri Vrindavan Dham parikrama every year. I am very pleased and happy with you all. You have been waiting for me to come for so long. I was going to arrive earlier, but there was a traffic jam on the way, so we ended up a bit late. We cannot do anything about it, but it does not really matter, we have the whole night ahead. If you can sit here the whole night, I can speak Hari-katha the whole night. Do not worry that we are starting late, we have the whole night.

সাধুসঙ্গে কৃষ্ণনামে—এই মাত্র চাই ।
সংসার জিনিতে আর কোন বস্তু নাই ॥

sadhu-sange krsna-nama—ei matra chai
samsara jinite ara kona vastu nai

‘I desire only to chant the Name of Krishna in the association of sadhus. There is no other way to conquer this material world.’

This is the ultimate purpose of our lives.

What is the meaning of a human birth? Why have we got this human birth? Having got this life, what should we do? All of us should know this. We will not be in this world for many days, we have to leave one day. In the meantime, we struggle so much every single day – from the moment we wake up and up until late at night we are so busy working (somebody goes to an office, somebody does farming, somebody runs a business, somebody does trading). Whatever you do from morning until night you do it for yourselves, to earn money, to buy food, to buy clothes, and so on. You earn money, you build houses, you decorate your rooms, and so on, but when you close your eyes and leave this world, all these things you have been working so hard for will be left behind, you will not be able to take anything with you. You have to leave this world. You do so many things in this world, but have you ever thought about what will become of you after this life (after you die)? When you die, you become free from all the obligations, but how can you attain the highest benefit in that state? Have you ever thought about that?

The Lord has made a very nice arrangement for us here. What arrangement is that? This is what I have come to tell you all about. I have come to tell you about the Lord, about our gurudev. You will not get a letter directly from the Lord, but He sends gurudev, His close associate, to this world to rescue such fallen, worthless souls as ourselves and send us all back to Him. Gurudev comes to this world to recruit us to the Lord's family. Gurudev, as all devotees of the Lord, is a member of Lord Krishna's family. Many of you have kept your doors open to him...

For example, I know that many of you are searching for a job. Our Gurudev and our Param Gurudev have opened a factory called Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, and there are many employees needed at this factory, but how many of us are fortunate enough to get a job there? One person from your village has taken sannyas (Sripad B.T. Niriha Maharaj), and his father and another devotee are also staying at the temple now. They are fortunate to be able to stay at the temple and serve the Lord there. Apart from that, many of you are still unable to come to this line because you cannot give up small things. But if you can chant the Holy Name (the Hare Krishna maha-mantra) purely, you can come to your own home. This is the arrangement Sri Gurupadpadma has made for everybody.
