SRI NABADWIP DHAM MAHATMYA-MUKTA-MALA Simantadwip (Sravanam: listening)
Sri Jagannathdev’s Temple
The last place we visit on the first day of our parikrama is this charming place that is known as Sankhavanik-nagar, or Sri Saradanga. This is the place where Sri Jagannathdev, Sri Baladev Prabhu and Sri Subhadra Mayi reside with sabaras (an ancient caste with whom Lord Jagannath stayed at first, before coming to Puri). Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur wrote in his holy scripture Sri Nabadwip Dham Mahatmya: ‘There was a time when an atheist Muslim ruler named Rakhabahu performed various atrocities in Odisha; at that time, the Lord came here with sabaras and has always lived here since then. This place is non-different from Sri Purusottam Ksetra (Sri Puri Dham).’
Jay Sri Baladev Subhadra Jagannath jiu ki jay.
