Sri Sri Gaurasundarer Avirbhav Vasare
(On the Day of Sri Sri Gaurasundar's Advent)

By Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj
Sung on Sri Gaura Purnima Evening

aruna vasanesonara suraja
udichhe kena re aja
vasanta susamaujari apana
dale kena jagamajhe [1]

Why has the Golden Sun appear today of all days clad in saffron garb? Why has exquisitely beautiful spring poured into this otherwise void world?

taru gulma-lataapurva varata
vahe kena phale phule
bhrnga o vihangekena hena range
sangita taranga tule [2]

Why have all the trees, shrubs, and creepers swell with beauty at this astonishing news? Why do bees and birds reel in joy like this, raising waves of their music?

patita durjanakena re garjana
ullase phartiya pade
vidya kula dhanaabhimani jana
kena mlana duhkha bhare [3]

Why do all the fallen and wicked souls explode in roar out of intense joy? Why do all the people who are so proud of their knowledge, birth and wealth look so down and filled with misery?

akasa vatasaghuchaiya trasa
asvase bhasaye deya
sadhu-jana manasukha vitarana-
avese unmada haya [2]

The wind in the sky clears all terror and inundates with reassurance. The hearts of all saintly persons is finally intoxicated with the happiness spreading all around.

chaudikete dhvaniki apurva suni
bahu-jana uchcharola
hare krsna ramanama divya-dhama
hari hari hari bola [4]

What a wondrous sound is heard in all four directions uttered by so many people? This world has become filled with the Holy Names of the Lord—“Hare!”, “Krishna!”, “Rama!”, “Hari Hari Hari bol!”

phalguni purnimahindola rangima
sujana-bhajana rage
sankirtana sanemarama gahane
na jani ki-bhava jage [5]

Pious souls worship Phalguni Purnima, the festival of swings and colours, with deep affection. I do not know what sort of divine mood arose in the depths of their hearts’ core.

sandhya samagamatapana magana
kena hema ghana kole
aparupa katapurava parvata
suvarna chandrama bhale [6]

Why has the sun become so overwhelmed and immersed into intensely golden colour as the evening came? How beautiful the Hill of East looks in the rays of Golden Moon!

suvarna chandramapasichhe nilima
se nila vilina heme
ithe kiva bhayasadhu-jana gaya
kalanka na rahe preme [7]

Then, some bluish hue entered the Golden Moon, and this blueness dissolved into its golden colour. All the saintly persons chant, astonished by this beauty. May this transcendental pure love always remain as pure (may it never become tarnished).

mahajane balegrahanera chhale
sange nama sankirtana
gaurachandrodaya paparahu ksaya
chandrasobha prema dhana [8]

All the great saintly persons say that this eclipse is a mere pretext followed by Nama-sankirtan. When the Golden Moon (Gaurachandra) arises, it destroys all sins of Rahu (eclipse)—the Moon is adorned by the wealth of divine love.

marmajna sakalekahe kutuhale
nilima vilina chande
chhanna avataralukana kahara
radha-ruchi-rupa-chande [9]

Those who know the essence, say with a great joy that the bluish hue dissolves within the Moon. Appearing in this world in disguise, the Lord hides Himself within the Moon of Sri Radha’s divine mood.

ithe hena stutiradha-bhava dyuti
suvalita syamarao
udila gauranganama-prema sanga
jaya jaya gora gao [10]

Such is the glory of Sri Shyamarao Krishna who is adorned with the heart and halo of Sri Radha. Gauranga has arisen along with the divine love and the Holy Name! Please chant, “Jaya Jaya Gora!”

The Bond with the Guru
'If you have a very strong relationship with the Guru, offences and undesirable things will gradually go away. If you have some material desire and do not want to remove it, and instead you want more and more, you will never get relief from that desire.'

If you think prasad is rice and dahl, that is not proper honour to prasadam.
You have to give proper honour to prasadam.
