Gurudev's Loving Affection [Part 7 | 24 April 2021]
"Sri Sivananda Sen understood it, Sri Jagadananda Pandit understood it, and Srila Sanatan Goswami also realised what is called Guru and Vaishnav's blessing in the world of devotion. I myself realised and understood it gradually too."

Today in the calendar: Krishna Panchami. Disappearance of Sripad Krishnadas Babaji Maharaj.

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj: "Even if you do not know anything about the Vaishnav mentioned in the calendar, you must still give them 'jay' on this day. We must always remember disappearance and appearance days of all Vaishnavs. If we can remember such personalities, such great souls, it will bring a great benefit to our spiritual life."

"We should always check the calendar, and when we see some dates mentioned there, even if we do not know anything about the Vaishnav or events mentioned there, we can at least give 'jay' to them—that also brings some good sukriti, some purification to us. Seeing the calendar and taking devotees' names early in the morning, from the beginning of the day, is very good for all devotees."

In honour of Sripad Krishna Das Babaji Maharaj:

Pranama-mantra:

Nurturing Gurudev's Mission [Part 8 | 24 April 2021]

Today in the calendar: Krishna Saptami. Disappearance of Srila Abhiram Thakur.

From a purport found in Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita:

"Sri Ramadas, later known as Abhiram Thakur, was one of the twelve gopals, or cowherd boyfriends, of Sri Nityananda Prabhu. The Gaura-ganoddesa-dipika (126) states that Sri Ramadasa was formerly Sridam. By the order of Sri Nityananda Prabhu, Abhiram Thakur became a great acharya and preacher of the Chaitanya cult of devotional service. He was a very influential personality, and nondevotees were very much afraid of him. Empowered by Sri Nityananda Prabhu, he was always in ecstasy and was extremely kind to all fallen souls. It is said that if he offered obeisances to any stone other than a salagrama-sila, it would immediately fracture. It is also said that Abhiram Thakur had a whip and that whoever he touched with it would immediately become an elevated devotee of Krishna. Among his many disciples, Sriman Srinivas Acharya was the most famous and the most dear, but it is doubtful that he was his initiated disciple."

"The devotees in Siliguri feel some gap, many feel disheartened because I do not come, that is why I thought that I would come here now otherwise when the election results are announced, another lockdown can start and I will not be able to come then. It was a good opportunity to preach here."

Mercy and Service [Part 2 | 25 April 2021]
"You chant the Holy Name, but what for do you chant the Holy Name? If you get service, that is the result of your chanting. A chatak bird always waits for a drop of rainwater, and in the same way we must always always wait when Gurudev gives us some service."

"If there is a temple in your city or country, you must go to the temple. What did Gurudev make the temple for? Follow the rules and regulations that Gurudev has established, that will be perfect. We cannot make our own rules, it is not good."

Amidst Blazing Fire [Part 4 | 25 April 2021]
"Conditioned souls' nature is to ask for something material, but the more they ask, the more pain they feel. If there is a fire and you blow air onto it, the fire will blaze more, but when you chant the Holy Name without offences, it is like water coming to put out that blazing fire of material life. Please be careful in the present situation and chant the Holy Name. This is the main thing in our life."

Today in the calendar: Krishna Ekadashi. Fast on Varuthini Ekadashi. Disappearance of Sriyukta Saurindranath Bhakti Varidhi Prabhu (a prominent disciple of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur and a close associate and supporter of Srila B.R. Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj).

Sri Gurupadpadma Enters His Eternal Samadhi in Sri Ekachakra Dham
(10 May 2021 | 24 photographs)
His Divine Grace Sri Gurupadpadma Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj arrives in his beloved Sri Ekachakra Dham to perform his last inconceivable manifest pastime in this world...

All Glory to Sri Sri Guru Gauranga

Dear Devotees, Friends, and Well-Wishers,

Please accept our humble obeisance at your holy feet.

With deep pain and sorrow we are bound to give the news that our beloved Sri Gurupadpadma, His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj, has chosen to withdraw from this world today, adorning with his painful pastime the holy day of Sri Krishna Chaturdasi of Sri Madhusudan Month (10 May 2021). His Divine Grace entered his eternal pastimes peacefully in hospital at 4.00 a.m. suffering a heart attack while undergoing treatment.

The holy body of His Divine Grace has been taken to his beloved Sri Ekachakra Dham and placed to reside there eternally in his holy and worshippable samadhi form.

We beg all devotees of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math to please take care of yourself and each other and to try to find strength to overcome this painful situation and to help each other carry on in a united way.

Your servants,
on behalf of scsmathinternational.com

"I can say to those of you who are helping and supporting my Guru, who are serving Gurudev's temples, that I will always be with you, and I am always with all of you too—wherever I go, wherever I am, I will take you all with me. Even if I die, I will take you all with me. I do not know how long I will be alive in this world, neither do you know how long you will stay in this world, but I will always be with you, I will always look after you."

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj)

For the consolation of the distressed and shattered:

"Wherever Gurudev keeps one, everyone must accept and follow it. This applies to every single practitioner. 'Guru krpa hi kevalam'—the mercy of Gurudev is all in all; but those who are clever at their practising life and service life, want to bring satisfaction and happiness to Gurudev. It is necessary to always be conscious, 'What is favourite to Gurudev?' For example, puspanna, khichudi and paramanna—these three offerings are given to the Lord. But what does my Lord love? What does He really like? If you know it and can arrange for such things, it is good. Those who are very observant in their service life, must always be alert towards such things."

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj)

"Having been taught Sril Bhaktivinod Thakur's exalted teachings and ideal, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Goswami Prabhupad has made a great arrangement for the preaching of pure devotion—he established temples and centres in many countries and places all over the world and sent Vaisnav sannyasis to preach. He was an embodiment of bhagavat-vani (message of Srimad Bhagavatam). In his instructions he told, 'We have not come to become carpenters and builders. We are merely messengers of divine message. You will be abused and humiliated a hundred times, but you must never leave Hari-kirtan. As soon as we leave Hari-kirtan, the surrounding environment will come to attack you.' His ultimate advice for the surrendered souls was chaste adherence to the guru: 'Stay all together in strict adherence to the main shelter-giver (Sri Gurupadpadma), your only duty is to continue practising and preaching Sri Rupa-Raghunath's message.'"

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj)

"The disciples did many activities enthusiastically but they actually did not know what devotional service is. When Gurudev disappeared, his influence of covering the shortcoming in the disciples also withdrew with him. At that time some of the devotees got back their previous subtle position, and they became confused. Ultimately it depends upon their own karma, their good fortune, and also the quality of their practising life—these three will contribute towards a good result. It is necessary for the devotees to know very clearly what they want to practise, then they will not go off the track—and in that also their own good fortune and good activities are necessary, otherwise they will not reach their goal. We must be able to recognise what is what."

(Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj)

Question: It seems that we have one type of fear that having got some connection with your self we may lose that at death. I do not want to have connection with anyone else, I want to stay with you. So, I feel some type of fear...

Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj: Fear? But why have fear? I cannot understand it.

Devotee: Because if we do not finish our sadhana nicely, then next life we do not know where we will go—we may not find Govinda Maharaj there.

Srila Govinda Maharaj: What do you think about Govinda Maharaj?

Devotee: We think that we want to serve you.

Srila Govinda Maharaj: No, it is okay that you want to serve Govinda Maharaj, but what do you think about Govinda Maharaj? He is your guru, but in which form do you think about him? Do you think that Govinda Maharaj is a mundane man or an incarnation of the Lord coming in front of you to give you connection with Him? If you think he is an incarnation of the Lord, then he cannot leave your heart and you cannot leave your Lord. Even if you die, you will get that connection in another form, perhaps, but you will not be able to leave your Lord. When you have faith that the Lord always lives with you, then there will be no fear.

That is the main thing. By the mercy of Vaishnavs I also always feel that my Srila Guru Maharaj (Srila B.R. Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj) is present with us. By the mercy of Vaishnavs and the supremacy of Srila Guru Maharaj, such feeling always comes to us that Srila Guru Maharaj has not left us, that he is with us.

I have service of Srila Guru Maharaj, and I must do that. Service to Srila Guru Maharaj is my only goal of life, and whichever way that service comes to me, I will try to serve.

Devotee: In my next life, I want to forever be a blade of grass wherever you walk...

Srila Govinda Maharaj: I do not want to wait for the next life. Actually, we must finish all our job here this life, then we shall all go to Goloka!

Question: Srila Sridhar Maharaj told Srila Govinda Maharaj that he would live until eighty-two years old, and he did. How many years did your Gurudev, Srila Govinda Maharaj, tell you that you would live?

Gurudev did not tell me that. Gurudev only said, "Krishna will save you." I never asked Gurudev, "How many years will I live?" Srila Gurudev told Srila Guru Maharaj, "You are giving me this position, but my horoscope says I will not live more than fifty or fifty-five," and Srila Sridhar Maharaj said to Gurudev, "Throw your horoscope away! I am giving you eighty-two years of life!" Gurudev saw my hand, but I never asked him how many years I would live. One day, he told me, "Bring your hands here." When I showed him my hands, he said, "Oh! Brihaspati is tunge." I asked him, "What does Brihaspati mean?" He said, "It means guru-kripa. Guru-kripa is very powerful [tunge—at its peak] in your life." After that, he told me, "Krishna will protect you, Guru Maharaj will protect you." He did not tell me how many years I would live and I never asked it either. I always think that it does not matter how many years I will live, it is not a question, the main question for me is how much service I can do for my Guru. I do not want to live two hundred years, all I want is to serve my Guru for as long as I am alive, until my death. This is the main thing for me.

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj, year 2020)

"Sri Gurudev is the only shelter for a disciple. Those who have become disciples live in complete adherence to their guru. If one retains independence, they cannot be called a 'disciple'—they can take the mantra, they can take initiation, but if they do not accept guidance or disciplining of Śrī Gurudev, they cannot be called a real disciple. Gurudev has a vast wealth. Those who are born into his lineage, can get the right for his wealth. Gurudev's wealth is not temples, buildings, houses, money; his wealth is faith, devotion and love.

"What happens after initiation? It is necessary to practise hearing and chanting, worship Deities and do service. You must serve with love, affection, extracting loving devotion from your very life. You must always think about what makes Him happy. You must be anxious to make Him happy and always be alert and conscious of His happiness. Sacrifice your selfish interests for His happiness, serve for His happiness.

"Sannyasis always sit amidst fire blazing on all four sides. This fire is Hari-katha, kirtan, service to the Lord, and service to the guru. You must progress in your practising life keeping the sacrificial fire of your service ablaze."

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj)

"On the shore of the broad blue ocean Gadadhar Pandit used to read Srimad Bhagavatam to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who was suffering from the great internal pain of separation from Himself (Krishna). Gadadhar Pandit supplied the wine of Krishna-lila to intoxicate his afflicted friend and give Him relief. As he read, tears would fall from his eyes like flower offerings onto the pages of Srimad Bhagavatam. May the pleasure of that brilliant personality, Gadadhar Pandit, the best of the Goswamis, be my only object in writing this book."

(Composed by Srila B.R. Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj)

Sri Gadadhar Pandit: Mahaprabhu's Shadow
(A chapter from His Divine Grace's Bengali book Sri Puri Dham Mahatmya-mukta-mala)
"Sri Gadadhar Pandit stayed with Mahaprabhu from his childhood. His father's name was Madhav Misra, and his mother's name was Ratnavali Devi. They lived in Mayapur near Jagannath Misra's house. Mahaprabhu could never stay without Gadadhar Pandit, and Gadadhar Pandit could not stay without Mahaprabhu even a moment too..."

Sri Guru Is All-in-All
"If we want to reach the Lord, we have to go through the medium of a Guru. First, it is necessary to take shelter at the holy lotus feet of Sri Guru, then you must take initiation. When you take initiation, it does not end there. You have got admitted into this transcendental university, and if you want to pass the exam, you must study your whole life. This studying is sravanam, kirtanam, smaranam, pada-sevanam, archanam, vandanam, dasyam, sakhyam, atma-nivedanam..."

All Glory to Sri Sri Guru Gauranga

Dear Devotees, Friends, and Well-Wishers,

Please accept our humble obeisance at your holy feet.

We are writing to inform Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math family and well-wishers of the arrangements that are being made following the footsteps and supreme example of our beloved Sri Gurupadpadma Om Vishnupad Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj. Following the guidance set by our beloved Divine Master Sri Gurupadpadma Ananta-sri-vibhusita Om Visnupad Paramahamsa-kula-chudamani Visva-varenya Sri Srimad Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj, the Acharya and Sevaite of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, a grand Vaishnav-seva Festival honouring the eternal glory of His Divine Grace is to be observed on the eleventh day following the calamitous events of His Divine Grace's disappearance, which falls on 20 May 2021 (Thursday), which is in accordance with what His Divine Grace had arranged for his beloved Divine Master Om Vishnupad Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj following the disappearance of His Divine Grace on 27 March 2010. We pray to all devotees and well-wishers that they try to find the strength to arrange the best possible festival with all proper decorum as taught by His Divine Grace himself, for his eternal pleasure and joy, taking all necessary precaution considering the pandemic situation.

Guidance on how such festivals are observed can be found in numerous photographs posted on the website, as well as in the written Daily Practice section of the website: Observing Festivals. Generally, it should consist of Sri Hari-kirtan and Sri Hari-katha that are so very dear to our Sri Gurupadpadma, followed by offering a special arati, puspanjali, bhoga, and distributing maha-prasadam. The most important service now is to remember the divine teachings of His Divine Grace and to try to carry the ever-victorious flag of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math following the earnest desire, eternal wish, and pure precepts of our beloved Sri Gurupadpadma His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj.

Escaping Ocean of Suffering
"If we do not want to suffer this birth, death, old age, and disease, then we must take shelter at the lotus feet of Vaishnavs and Gauranga. We must always practise Krishna consciousness in strict adherence to the lotus feet of Sri Guru and Vaishnavs. There is no other way. This Kali-yuga is an ocean of faults, but at the same there is one great good quality in this age—it is easy to get the Lord in this age through sankirtan. If somebody can take the Holy Name genuinely, without offences, then they can attain the gift of prema."

For the consolation of the distressed and shattered:

Student: After the disappearance of the Spiritual Master, how should the disciples continue his Mission?

Srila Sridhar Maharaj: You must not neglect your conscience. You may go to fight as a soldier, to save your country, or your people, or your honour. Your environment does not depend on your whim. It may appear extremely perplexing, but you will have to face that. However complex the battlefield may be, as a soldier, you will have to fight. Otherwise you have no faith in your own cause.

There may be disturbances. Rather we say there should be, there may even be fighting amongst devotees, but we should not leave the preaching of Mahaprabhu, despite all differences. Disturbance must come, because our most beloved Guru has withdrawn from amongst us. Such a great curse has been thrown on our heads; should we like to live peacefully? In its wake disturbances must come, and we must undergo them. Still, we must remain sincere; we must face the difficulty in a proper way. It has come to train us to go in the right direction.

What we received from our Spiritual Master we understood only in a rough estimation. Now, things have come in such a way that we have to scrutinise ourselves in every position. We have to analyse ourselves. Atma-niksepa, self-analysis, has begun. We are under trial. What we received from our Spiritual Master, in what way have we received it? Properly, or only showingly? The time has come to purify us, to test whether we are real students, real disciples, or his disciples only in face and confession. What is the position of a real disciple? If we live in the society, what is the depth of our creed? In what attitude have we accepted his teachings? How deep-rooted is it within us? The fire has come to test whether we can stand. Is our acceptance real? Or is it a sham, an imitation? This fire will prove that.

So, we must not be afraid of any adverse circumstances. Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gita, "A happy ksatriya hankers for the battle you are facing (sukhinah ksatriyah Partha labhante yuddham idrsam)." Our karma has come to face us, to surround us, and we can't avoid it. These disturbances are a result of our own karma; they came from within us. So, we must not quarrel. We must act properly in dealing with that.

We have to scrutinise more accurately what we thought we understood. Everyone must ask himself, "Where am I? What is my real need? And how much am I hankering for the real thing?" All these things will be expressed and made public. So, this is the real field of sadhana, or practice. Our practice, our advancement, needs all these difficulties. Otherwise we may not know what is progress. We will become hypocrites and give the same adulterated thing to others. So, to purify ourselves it is necessary that so many disturbances come.

And God has no error. He commands the environment. It is not our responsibility. The responsibility of the environment does not rest upon us. Our responsibility is within ourselves alone. The environment is in the hands of the Lord. He has not done any wrong to me. If I am sincere, then I have to adjust myself with this environment and put my faith before Him. By our stand in any circumstances in the battle, our patriotism will be put to the test. We will be tested to see whether we are real soldiers or not.

Anything may come, but we will have to face that. I must not forget my Lord, my Guru, my Gauranga, my Radha-Govinda, under any circumstances. Under all unfavourable circumstances, I must stand with my head erect and say, "Yes! I am a servant of that clan, that sampradaya. Everyone may leave me, but I shall stand alone!" With this attitude we must march on, whatever the circumstances may be. Then the recognition may come in my favour, that, "Yes, under such trying circumstances he is still there." Our superiors will be pleased with us.

We must analyse ourselves. How much are we selfish? To what percent are our unwanted bad habits, anarthas, still present within our hearts? How much are the impurities of karma, jnan, mental desires, and other filthy things mixed with the real faith—that must come out, and that must be eliminated in different ways. If we want real good, no one can hinder us. With this spirit we must move, and then we will be able to understand what is what...

All Glory to Sri Sri Guru Gauranga

Dear Devotees, Friends, and Well-Wishers,

Please accept our humble obeisance at your holy feet.

In view of the approaching grand separation festival of the divine disappearance of His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj, the President and Sevaite-Acharya of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, on 20 May 2021 (Thursday) and following some enquiries from the devotees, we can humbly share the following as a way of general guidance on conducting festivals that we have learned from the association and eternal divine pastimes of His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj. Generally, the programmes arranged and hosted by Sri Gurupadpadma would go as follows:

Assembling, gathering and welcoming all august Vaishnavs and devotees with obeisances, sweet words, garlands, chandan paste;
A brief introductory opening speech;
Chanting kirtans:

- Vandana
- Sri Guru Parampara kirtan
('Krsna haite chaturmukha')
- Sri Gurudev's kirtan
('Gurudev! Krpa bindu diya', or 'Gurudev bada krpa kari')
- Sri Pancha-tattva's kirtan
('Sri Krsna Chaitanya Prabhu jive', or 'Sri Krsna Chaitanya daya kara')
- Sri Vaishnav Thakur's kirtan
('Kabe Sri Chaitanya more', or 'Krpa kara Vaisnava Thakura', or 'Ohe Vaisnava Thakura')
- Sriman Nityananda Prabhu's kirtan
('Nitai-guna-mani amar', or 'Nitai-pada-kamala', or 'Akrodha paramananda')
- Sriman Mahaprabhu's kirtan
('Gaurangera duti pada', or 'Parama Karuna', or 'Emana durmati')
- Sri Sri Radha Krishna's kirtan
('Jaya Radhe Jaya Krsna', or 'Jaya Radha Madhava')
- Sri Rupa Goswami's kirtan
('Sri Rupa-manjari-pada')
- Viraha Giti
('Ye anila prema-dhana')
- Hare Krishna Maha-mantra
Class and/or reading from scriptures;
If any other senior Vaishnavs are present, they are given turn to speak;
Concluding kirtan ('Hari haraye Nama Krsna', Hare Krishna maha-mantra);
Devotees chant kirtan and offer puspanjali (flower petals) to the picture of Sri Gurupadapadma;
Offering bhoga followed by arati worship (usually, such programmes take place at noon, so first bhoga arati is chanted, then the arati songs);
Distributing prasadam with care and affection;
Presenting daksin and auspicious items to senior Vaishnavs or devotees in general;
Affectionate farewell.

From the holy lotus mouth of Sri Gurupadapdma Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj:

"Gurudev, Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj always wanted to give some prasadam to the devotees, and I saw in Chaitanya-charitamrita, Prapanna-jivanamritam, and even Jagadananda Pandit's Prema-vivarta that if you have something, you must give it to others—if you have no wealth, you can give others some prasadam, and if you have no prasadam, nothing, you can give others sweet words. That is the main thing. You can make others happy with sweet words."

"All the devotees know how to cook, what is there to it? When Nityananda Prabhu is in Ekachakra, He likes roasted and mashed eggplant (begun pora), and when Nityananda Prabhu comes to Venezuela or Colombia, He takes arepa there. What is the problem? Nityananda Prabhu's taste is different—He can take different things from everybody and from everywhere as long as you cook it with heart. The main thing is to serve with heart—not to do anything artificially. When you do any service or cook anything, you must do it with heart, then it will be good for everybody, and then Mahaprabhu, or Krishna, or Nityananda Prabhu will be happy—They will enjoy, and Gurudev will also enjoy. This is the main advice how to do everything. It is necessary for us to understand this."

An extensive guidance on the proper service mood during the Vaishnav seva festivals is kept in the Daily Practice section of the website:
Observing Festivals
A page of the Daily Practice section dedicated to Vaishnav-seva and observing festivals. "Why are you making a festival? Making a festival means you are inviting many people and you are giving them some prasadam, engaging them in Krishna consciousness—it means practising Krishna consciousness."

Favourite Preparations
When asked, His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj replies, "When devotees give me something with affection, I take that." Presented on this page, however, is a list of preparations favourite to His Divine Grace that was provided by the servitors of His Divine Grace.

Today in the calendar: Gaura Panchami. Appearance of Sripad Shankaracharya (a highly empowered manifestation of Siva whom Lord Krishna sent to the earth to conceal the true purport of the Vedanta; He is renowned as the greatest proponent of impersonalism). Disappearance of Tridandi Swami Srimad Bhakti Vilas Gabhastinemi Maharaj (a diksa and sannyas disciple of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur Prabhupad).

In honour of Sri Shankaracharya:

Sriman Nityananda Prabhu said: "O Jiva, from here, see Sri Sankarpur. See how far it shines along the bank of the Ganga. When Sankar Acharya was conquering all directions, he came there to conquer Nabadwip. At heart, Sankar Acharya was a great Vaisnava; only externally was he acting as a nondualist and servant of Maya. He was a highly empowered manifestation of Siva who was expert at preaching a conception of veiled Buddhism. Siva performs this duty according to the order of the Lord. When Sankar Acharya came to Nadia, Gaurachandra revealed Himself to Sankar Acharya in a dream and mercifully spoke sweet words to him, 'You are My servant, and following My order, you are very cleverly preaching illusionism. Nabadwip Dham is very dear to Me, and illusionism will never have a place here. Here, Vrddha Siva and Praudha Maya propagate imaginary interpretations of the scriptures. They deceive, however, only those who oppose My devotees. In general, My devotees reside here. This place is not for preaching misconception. Therefore, you should go elsewhere. Do not trouble the residents of Nabadwip.' Understanding the position of Nabadwip through this dream, Sankar Acharya went elsewhere, inspired with devotion."

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj: "Even if you do not know anything about the Vaishnavs mentioned in the calendar, you must still give them 'jay' on this day."

In honour of Sri Jahnavi Puja (Sri Ganga Puja):

"...While speaking, they went to Jan Nagar and saw the beauty of the hermitage of Jahnu Muni. Nityananda Prabhu said, 'This charming abode is known as Jahnudwip and Bhadravan. Jahnu Muni performed austerities here and saw the golden form of Gaura. Once, when Jahnu Muni sat here to perform his evening meditation, His copper vessel fell into the swiftly flowing River Ganga. The copper vessel fell into the river and floated away. Jahnu Muni then drank all the water of the Ganga with his palm. Maharaj Bhagirath thought, "Where did the Ganga go?" Bewildered, he began to think over the situation. Understanding that Jahnu Muni had drunk all the water of the Ganga, Maharaj Bhagirath became concerned. Sober Maharaj Bhagirath worshipped the sage for some time, and eventually the Ganga broke out of the sage's body. Thereafter, she became known as Jahnavi. The whole world now calls her 'Jahnavi'.'"

He is the ever vigilant, stalwart guardian of the current of pure devotion whose highest form flows from our most worshippable Sri Rupanuga Guru-varga in their exclusive dedication to Mahabhav, Srimati Radharani."

Autobiography of Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj
To try to describe unlimited glories of a Vaishnav is a very challenging task, and because the nature of Guru is beyond what we can grasp with our material intelligence and beyond what we can perceive with our material senses, it makes the task even harder. Presented here is an autobiographical discourse of His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj, the current Acharya and Sevaite of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math.

Remembering Early Days
"Today's day is accepted as the day of my birthday. I do not know by what pull I have come here. "Krishna is my mother, Krishna is my father"—I knew that from my childhood, I had such sukriti. Since my childhood I have always been inspired to read Srimad Bhagavad-gita."

PHOTO ALBUM
The photographs presented in this dedicated photo album are only a few glimpses into a particle of the service and contribution that His Divine Grace has made. May they however become a source of inspiration for the service and dedication to the lotus feet of Sri Gurudev that His Divine Grace embodies.

The last recorded Hari-katha and Guidance of Sri Gurupadpadma:

Take Care of Yourself [Part 1 | 2 May 2021]
"...This is the situation now—we must all be careful. We must chant more and more, we must preach more and more, and we must practise more and more. Always continue following all the rules and regulations—we must distribute the teachings that we have got from our Gurudev to others."

Sadhus' Fight [Part 2 | 2 May 2021]
"This is a battlefield. We will not run away from the battlefield—we will always stand and fight against Maya. You can see everywhere that finally demons are always defeated by the sadhu. Om is always at the side of a sadhu. Please you all take care yourself. In this situation, everybody should practise on their own, do not be disheartened."

Be Exclusive, One-Pointed [Part 3 | 2 May 2021]
"If you think about good things, then all bad things will automatically be removed from you. Do not worry so much about this. When you think some anartha is coming, you must give more and more attention to practising—concentrate your mind on practising."

"I Will Always Be With You"
"I see how much energy you get despite all austerities and difficulties, and I feel very happy—it is on the strength of your energy, on the strength of your love and affection that we are going to start our Nabadwip Dham parikrama from tomorrow."
Download / listen to the audio (7 Mb, 20 min | 16 March 2019 | Bengali)

"I can say to those of you who are helping and supporting my Guru, who are serving Gurudev's temples, that I will always be with you, and I am always with all of you too—wherever I go, wherever I am, I will take you all with me. Even if I die, I will take you all with me. I do not know how long I will be alive in this world, neither do you know how long you will stay in this world, but I will always be with you, I will always look after you."

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj)

During his manifest pastimes, Sri Gurupadpadma Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj not only inundated all fourteen directions with a powerful fountain of the nectar of pure Hari-katha but also mercifully produced a peculiar and invaluable asset for the entire humanity and especially for those fortunate jiva souls who strive for a bona fide, sincere connection with the Lord and abode of devotion. Presented below is a transcendental treasure trove of eternal Divine Guidance that has fortunately manifested itself in holy book form for the benefit of the entire world. Some guidance regarding tomorrow's grand festival in honour of Lord Sri Nrisinghadev's Appearance:

According to the rules established at Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math by our worshippable Sri Guru-varga, the holy day of Lord Sri Nrisinghadev's appearance is observed in the following way:

Sri Nrisingha-chaturdasi adhivas: devotees follow the daily programme of the temple engaging in various services and prepare for the festival (decorating the temple, purchasing and collecting bhoga, inviting honourable guests, etc.).
Sri Nrisingha-chaturdasi day: devotees follow the daily programme of the temple, reading scriptures, engaging in various services, and observe a complete fast until sunset.
Sri Nrisingha-chaturdasi evening (sunset): the evening programme starts before the evening arati (around 4 p.m.) following which an opulent bhoga is offered to the Deities in the evening containing various grain and non-grain preparations (the grain preparations are made in small quantities, just for the offering of the Deities). At sunset (the time of Lord Nrisinghadev's appearance), the Deities are offered the evening arati and devotees honour anukalpa prasadam (non-grain, similar to what is taken on ekadasi) before finishing the rest of the services and retiring for rest. His Divine Grace comments that anything can be offered on this day. He also mentions that our Temple always makes a nice preparation of sweet rice, using best ingredients (best rice, milk, raisins, and nuts) on this day.
The next day morning and afternoon: the morning daily programme continues as usual; paran (breaking the fast) is at 4:56-9:21 a.m. this year, so after offering bhoga to the Deities in the morning, devotees break the fast with the grain maha-prasadam remnants from the day before and from the morning offering. After that, devotees engage in various services and a little later hold a Vaishnav Seva festival programme starting from 9-10 a.m. until midday. Following the main programme of Hari-katha and Hari-kirtan, the Deities are offered another special opulent offering of bhoga at noon as well as the noon arati, after which everyone is lovingly served festive maha-prasadam.

Below is an extensive collection of photographs taken during the festival in 2019 which was observed in the shelter and under the guidance of our beloved Sri Gurupadpadma Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj at Sri Nrisingha Palli, Sri Nabadwip Dham, in 2019:

Sri Nrisingha Chaturdasi: Vaishnav Seva
(19 May 2019 | 64 photographs, 3.4 Mb)
Photographs taken during the morning and afternoon programmes following Sri Nrisingha-chaturdasi at Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, Sri Nrisingha Palli arranged by His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj: morning class, first and second initiations, noon programme attended by holy Vaishnavs of Gaudiya Maths, arati and grand prasadam distribution. With all the devotees striving heart and soul to please Sri Gurupadpadma and serve all the Vaishnavs, the festival passes gloriously and gorgeously.

[Addressing a devotee who did not go to the temple but made a festival at home.] Why did you have a home festival? You should have gone to the festival at the temple. If there is a temple in your city or nearby, you must go to the temple. How do you make a festival alone at home? You only cook, offer some bhog, and take prasadam—it basically means cooking too much and eating it yourself... You must always go to the temple. What did Gurudev make the temple for? For preaching, to arranging festivals and for giving you a place where you can gather and take devotees' association. It is necessary to understand this. Everybody have a right to stay at the temple, everybody has a right to go to the temple, and everybody must follow the rules and regulations of the temple—be humble, tolerant, and give honour to others. Follow the rules and regulations that Gurudev has established, that will be perfect. We cannot make our own rules, it is not good. The rules must be always the rules and regulations that Gurudev has set. Always behave very nicely with the devotees, be humble, tolerant, and give honour to others. This is what Gurudev teaches us, these are the main qualities we must have. Be humble, tolerant, and give honour to others, and you must also have proper surrender—do not be a hypocrite, do not practise false renunciation; surrender must be proper.

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj, Perfect Rules)

'Thanks' is not enough | 17 May 2015

Brazilian devotees helped me so much to buy the land in Nrisingha Palli. It was Gurudev's desire to have that land, and I am surprised how much they helped me. I did not hope to get that land beside the Nrisinghadev Temple, and now it happened. If I give 'thanks' to them, it is not very small. I cannot give thanks to them, it would be not perfect. They gave so much energy, funds, for that Nrisingha Palli land, and I am very happy. Before, Gurudev declared to everybody that we were getting a property of Nrisinghadev, but only now it actually came to the hand of our Chaitanya Saraswat Math. I am very pleased with that.

Lacking Spirituality
"O mind, what kind of pauper are you? Are you lacking bhojan (food) or bhajan (spiritual life)? You have come to this world to indulge your material senses, have you not? But we do not come to this world for this!"
Download / listen to the audio (6.8 Mb, 16 min | 2 February 2021 | Bengali)

Today in the calendar: Purnima. Sri Nrisimha Chaturdashi paran between 4:56 and 9:21 a.m. Sri Krishna's Phul Dol and Salila Bihar. Buddha Purnima: appearance day of Lord Buddha. Disappearance of Srila Parameshvari Das Thakur. Appearance of Srila Srinivas Acharya.

"Wake up, look into the calendar and give 'jay' to your Guru and Vaishnavs. Always pay obeisance to your Guru and Vaishnavs when you wake up in the morning, always give them 'jay'. Always keep faith and show respect to them. Always see the calendar—whose appearance day it is, whose disappearance day it is. Even if you cannot make a festival, at least you can give them 'jay', it will bring you benefit. When you give 'jay' to your Guru and Vaishnavs, it brings you sukriti. For example, today is the disappearance day of a Vaishnav—give 'jay' to him, remember him. We must always remember the words of Vaishnavs. If I remember the words of Vaishnavs, I get some benefit, some deposit through that."

In honour of Lord Buddha's appearance:

SONG: Sri Dasavatar Stotram | দশাবতারস্তোত্রম্
"O Hari! O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! You have assumed the form of Buddha! All glory to You! Your heart filled with compassion, You decry the scriptural injunctions for animal sacrifice."

"At the beginning of Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Anjana, in the province of Gaya, just for the purpose of deluding those who are envious of the faithful theist." (Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.3.24)

In honour of Srila Srinivas Acharya Prabhu:

Time for Sravan
"You must see the sadhu with your ears, because you cannot see a sadhu with your eyes. This is actually not a place for play or tourism, this is a place for sravan and kirtan. You must listen with your heart. One time, Acharya Srinivas was sitting with Narottam Das Thakur in one place..."

In Praise of Srila Narottam Das Thakur (From Affectionate Guidance, chapter 17)
Narottam Thakur's close associates and peers were Syamananda and Srinivas. These three great devotees were sent back to Bengal to continue the preaching of Mahaprabhu. The Bengali Vaisnavas were very eager to read the writings of Sri Rupa, Sanatan, Raghunath, Krishna Das Kaviraj, Lokanath Goswami, Gopal Bhatta Goswami, Prabhodananda Saraswati and the other Goswamis; so Narottam, Syamananda and Srinivas travelled from Vrindavan towards Bengal with many copies of those great books...

"I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Six Goswamis, namely Sri Rupa Goswami, Sri Sanatan Goswami, Sri Raghunath Bhatta Goswami, Sri Raghunath Das Goswami, Sri Jiva Goswami, and Sri Gopala Bhatta Goswami, who are always engaged in chanting the Holy Name of Krishna and dancing. They are just like the ocean of love of God, and they are popular both with the gentle and with the ruffians, because they are not envious of anyone. Whatever they do, they are all-pleasing to everyone, and they are fully blessed by Lord Chaitanya. Thus they are engaged in missionary activities meant to deliver all the conditioned souls in the material universe."

"Do Not Despair" [By Om Vishnupad Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj]
"You have come to see me. I am your friend, your master, or your everything, I can feel that you feel it. There are so many devotees from different countries here. Different countries means different languages, different cultures, different lifestyles, different food—everything is different; but our conception is one, and that is Krishna consciousness. We have been practising for a long time, then we must have some Krishna-conscious mentality and we can proceed with that to our goal, which is the life of a servitor."

Today in the calendar: Krishna Pratipad. Disappearance of Tridandi Swami Srimad Bhakti Saranga Goswami Maharaj (a great prominent disciple of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur Prabhupad, and a sannyas disciple of Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj.

Diving deep into the reality of His own beauty and sweetness, Lord Govinda stole the mood of Radharani and, garbing Himself in Her brilliant luster, appeared as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. For the last twelve years of His manifest Pastimes He was deeply absorbed in union and separation, and He shared His heart's inner feelings with His most confidential devotees such as Swarupa Damodara and Ramananda Ray. Volcanic eruptions of ecstasy flowed from the heart of Sri Gauranga in the agony of separation from Krishna. This Golden Lord, who appeared like an intoxicated elephant, is none other than Lord Govinda. I offer my obeisances to that beautiful Golden Lord, Gaurangasundar, the divine form of Krishna prema.

Sri Ramananda Ray Prabhu
[By His Divine Grace Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj]
"Ramananda Ray was very strong and a very good administrator. He controlled the whole situation and the whole atmosphere after Mahaprabhu's disappearance and gave full nourishment to the devotees. Ramananda Ray stayed alive until finally, today, when everything had become peaceful and settled, he also disappeared..."

Sanatan-siksa: Delusion of Liberation
His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj is reading from Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, chapter 22: 'There are jnanis who think they have already achieved the stage of liberation in their life, but actually without devotion to Krishna their intelligence can never be pure.'

Sri Sri Prema-Vivarta
“Withdraw your affection from the world and dedicate it to the lotus feet of Krishna.”

If you stay alone, you can cook in your room, offer to the Lord, to your Guru, and take
that prasadam—you will be happy, and your devotion will be all right.
