"He was a saintly king, and everything in His character was good, untinged by qualities like anger. He taught good behavior for everyone, especially for householders, in terms of varnasrama-dharma. Thus He taught the general public by His personal activities."
"Lord Ramachandra's spotless name and fame, which vanquish all sinful reactions, are celebrated in all directions, like the ornamental cloth of the victorious elephant that conquers all directions."
(Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 9, chapters 10-11)

Niti and Priti

Rama-Avatar
"Today is a very good day—the appearance day of Lord Ramachandra. There are different kinds of moods—santa, dasya, sakhya, vatsalya, madhura-rasa. Moreover, the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the Lord are also different. You can easily understand it from the difference between Rama-lila and Krishna-lila."

I offer my obeisance unto he who perfectly fulfils his Gurudev's most cherished desires; who is fully adorned with the blessings of his Gurudev’s associates; who is expert in all aspects of Vedic knowledge, both conceivable and inconceivable; who is the pre-eminent follower of Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu's line; who is known as 'Govinda'—Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj; whose beautiful, effulgent, exalted form is infused with pure devotion; who is the Guru of the entire universe; and who is the giver of the seed of divine love for the Supreme Lord.

Dear respected Devotees, Friends and Well-Wishers,

We are offering obeisance at your holy lotus feet and on behalf of His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj humbly extend a letter of encouragement to observe the disappearance day of our most worshippable and beloved Om Vishnupad Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, which manifests on 5 April (Sunday) this year, in every branch of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math throughout the world.

Considering the ongoing difficult situation all over the world, many temples, centres, and devotees are currently constrained in their capacity to host large programmes, however it is good if this festival can still be observed within each temple, centre and heart of devotees according to their capacity. In India, His Divine Grace comments that the situation is quite difficult because of the recently enforced national lockdown, however all services at the temples are continuing properly, the devotees are in good health and spirit.

His Divine Grace has many times instructed on how to hold special programmes and taught it many times by his own example. Usually such programmes consist of: kirtans, lecture or reading of scriptures, arati, pushpanjali (offering of flowers to a photograph), and prasad-seva (cooking a special offering, offering it at the altar or to a photograph, and distributing it to devotees).

We hope all devotees find an opportunity to observe this holy day for the satisfaction of Sri Gurupadpadma keeping the divine Guidance on their heads: "Always sit amidst fire blazing on all four sides. This fire is Hari-katha, kirtan, service to the Lord, and service to the guru. You must progress in your practising life keeping the sacrificial fire of your service ablaze."

"Gurudev Is My Everything"
"We must not misinterpret what Gurudev told. Devotees all over the world can realise easily what is Srila Sridhar Maharaj's conception, what is Gurudev's conception, and they can understand whether they are following it or not. Your main focus must be always to please your Guru properly. Name and fame is for your guru—you must not preach for your name and fame, you must preach to please your guru."

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj:

"I am praying to all the devotees all over the world—you must follow the government rules. I think almost all countries are in lockdown now. You must follow the lockdown rules because this dangerous virus is now all over the world. I have not got any news so far that any of our devotees are affected by it, so everybody is OK, we are also OK here, but we should be more careful. Always be careful. The government here has declared today that they are going to search some places and test everybody in the areas where coronavirus is spreading—if your test comes back negative, you will be quarantined for ten days, and if your test comes back positive, then it will be even stricter, then treatment is necessary. So, we must be careful. If you have to go to the market, wear a mask, keep social distance, and when you come back home, clean your hands. Always keep your hands clean—use hand sanitiser from time to time, wear a mask, wear gloves. It is necessary to do this. We must take proper care. This is my request to everybody all over the world. If you have to go out, go and come back quickly to your house and clean your hands. Take proper care of yourself. This virus can attack quickly and it spreads very quickly."

"Try Your Best"
"We must try to rectify ourselves. We are everybody's servants. When you take initiation, you do not become a devotee—you only get admission into a spiritual school, but after that you must practise. You will become perfect through practise."

Today in the calendar: Vasanta Rasa of Sri Krishna. Rasa Yatra of Sri Balaram. Appearance of Srila Vamshi Vadanananda Thakur [the avatar of Sri Krishna's flute in the Pastimes of Sriman Mahaprabhu, he took care of Mother Sachi Devi and Visnu Priya after Sriman Mahaprabhu's sannyas; Sriman Nityananda Prabhu introduced him to Srila Jiva Goswami when he came to Nabadwip] and Srila Shyamananda Prabhu.

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj: "Even if you do not know anything about the Vaishnav mentioned in the calendar, you must still give them 'jay' on this day."

His Divine Grace
Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj
:

"Srinivas Acharya, Narottam Das Thakur, and Shyamananda Prabhu started for Vrindavan to have the darshan of Srila Rupa Goswami, Srila Sanatan Goswami, Srila Gopala Bhatta Goswami, Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Goswami and others who were there.

"When they were only a few miles away from Mathura, they heard that Sanatan Goswami had passed away. People were saying that that great Sanatan Goswami who was the prime minister and who had captured all people in the whole of Vrindavan within his heart—that Sanatan had passed away, a great disaster for the country. What to do then? Rupa, Raghunath, Jiva and Gopala Bhatta were still living, so Srinivas, Narottam, and Shyamananda dragged somehow on.

When they reached Mathura, they heard that Srila Rupa Goswami had left the night before that. Sanatana left on an ashari purnima, and Srila Rupa Goswami left after that on next dvadasi. They thought, "What hopeless and cursed souls we are! We have come so near, yet we could not see those two generals of Mahaprabhu!" Mahaprabhu sent two of his generals to Vrindavan to carry out His orders and establish the kingdom of the Gaudiya Vaishnavs there... So, they dragged their bodies to Vrindavan and came to Govinda Mandir. When they reached it, they found that an evening aroti was going on there in a very great splendour. There was a great crowd there—Srila Rupa Goswami had just passed away, so with that feeling of high bereavement, everybody was chanting his name madly. Srinivas, Narottam, and Shyamananda Prabhu were there, but Srinivas Acharya could not stand that sort of sentimental wave—he was standing aside and he fainted. When he regained his consciousness, he saw Srila Jiva Goswami with some of his followers...

In this way, Srinivas Acharya, Narottam Das Thakur, and Shyamananda Prabhu stayed in Vrindavan for one year—Srinivas Acharya took initiation from Gopala Bhatta, Narottam Thakur from Lokanath Goswami, and Shyamananda Prabhu from Srila Jiva Goswami Prabhu..."

"Give Me Your Mercy"
"I know what I am saying is heavy and you may not like it. When Gurudev gives you service, that is his mercy, but instead, when Gurudev gives you service, you forget about it. When you call me, you keep telling me, 'Gurudev, please give me your mercy!' but you think that it is not necessary to do what I have told you to do."

Today in the calendar: Disappearance of Srila Abhiram Thakur.

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj: "Even if you do not know anything about the Vaishnav mentioned in the calendar, you must still give them 'jay' on this day."

From a purport found in Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita:

"Sri Ramadas, later known as Abhiram Thakur, was one of the twelve gopals, or cowherd boyfriends, of Sri Nityananda Prabhu. The Gaura-ganoddesa-dipika (126) states that Sri Ramadasa was formerly Sridam. By the order of Sri Nityananda Prabhu, Abhiram Thakur became a great acharya and preacher of the Chaitanya cult of devotional service. He was a very influential personality, and nondevotees were very much afraid of him. Empowered by Sri Nityananda Prabhu, he was always in ecstasy and was extremely kind to all fallen souls. It is said that if he offered obeisances to any stone other than a salagrama-sila, it would immediately fracture. It is also said that Abhiram Thakur had a whip and that whoever he touched with it would immediately become an elevated devotee of Krishna. Among his many disciples, Sriman Srinivas Acharya was the most famous and the most dear, but it is doubtful that he was his initiated disciple."

Today in the calendar: Appearance of Sripad Shankaracharya (a highly empowered manifestation of Siva whom Lord Krishna sent to the earth to conceal the true purport of the Vedanta; He is renowned as the greatest proponent of impersonalism). Disappearance of Tridandi Swami Srimad Bhakti Vilas Gabhastinemi Maharaj (a diksa and sannyas disciple of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur Prabhupad).

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj: "Even if you do not know anything about the Vaishnav mentioned in the calendar, you must still give them 'jay' on this day."

In honour of Sri Shankaracharya:

Sriman Nityananda Prabhu said: "O Jiva, from here, see Sri Sankarpur. See how far it shines along the bank of the Ganga. When Sankar Acharya was conquering all directions, he came there to conquer Nabadwip. At heart, Sankar Acharya was a great Vaisnava; only externally was he acting as a nondualist and servant of Maya. He was a highly empowered manifestation of Siva who was expert at preaching a conception of veiled Buddhism. Siva performs this duty according to the order of the Lord. When Sankar Acharya came to Nadia, Gaurachandra revealed Himself to Sankar Acharya in a dream and mercifully spoke sweet words to him, 'You are My servant, and following My order, you are very cleverly preaching illusionism. Nabadwip Dham is very dear to Me, and illusionism will never have a place here. Here, Vrddha Siva and Praudha Maya propagate imaginary interpretations of the scriptures. They deceive, however, only those who oppose My devotees. In general, My devotees reside here. This place is not for preaching misconception. Therefore, you should go elsewhere. Do not trouble the residents of Nabadwip.' Understanding the position of Nabadwip through this dream, Sankar Acharya went elsewhere, inspired with devotion."

(Sri Nabadwip Dham Mahatmya, chapter 15)

Meaning of Chastity
"Chastity is a very high thing. Those who have chastity, do not think about anything else, they do not want to hear anything else, they do not want to listen to anything else, they do not want to know anything else—they only know their Guru."

Today in the calendar: Jahnu Saptami. Sri Jahnavi Puja (Sri Ganga Puja).

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj: "Even if you do not know anything about the Vaishnav mentioned in the calendar, you must still give them 'jay' on this day."

In honour of Sri Jahnavi Puja (Sri Ganga Puja):

"...While speaking, they went to Jan Nagar and saw the beauty of the hermitage of Jahnu Muni. Nityananda Prabhu said, 'This charming abode is known as Jahnudwip and Bhadravan. Jahnu Muni performed austerities here and saw the golden form of Gaura. Once, when Jahnu Muni sat here to perform his evening meditation, His copper vessel fell into the swiftly flowing River Ganga. The copper vessel fell into the river and floated away. Jahnu Muni then drank all the water of the Ganga with his palm. Maharaj Bhagirath thought, "Where did the Ganga go?" Bewildered, he began to think over the situation. Understanding that Jahnu Muni had drunk all the water of the Ganga, Maharaj Bhagirath became concerned. Sober Maharaj Bhagirath worshipped the sage for some time, and eventually the Ganga broke out of the sage's body. Thereafter, she became known as Jahnavi. The whole world now calls her 'Jahnavi'.'"

(Sri Nabadwip Dham Mahatmya, chapter 13)

Visiting Holy Places: Pleasure Hunting?
"'The trouble of visiting holy places is simply a mental delusion—all possible perfection is the feet of Govinda.' You can ask me, 'Maharaj, then why are you going there, why are taking us with you?' Do you know the answer?"

'Householder devotees can practise everything individually at their homes and come to the programme at the centre every Sunday. You eat every day, you go to the toilet every day, and you must practise every day too!'

“Always know, 'Krishna protects and maintains me.' Put an end to your troubles through self-surrender and humility.”

Those who depend upon Krishna, who are surrendered souls,
they have no fear: only Krishna can kill.
