Sri Bhoga Arati Song
bhaja bhakata-vatsala sri-gaura-hari
sri-gaura-hari sohi gostha-bihari [1]
Worship Sri Gaura-hari, who loves His devotees and who plays and enjoys
together with His dear associates.
nanda yasomati-chitta-hari
bela ha’la damodara, aisa ekhana
bhoga-mandire basi’ karaha bhojana [2]
He has stolen Nanda Maharaj’s and Mother Yasoda’s hearts. ‘It is time,
Damodar! Come to the dinning room and eat!’
nandera nirdese baise giribara-dhari
baladeva-saha sakha baise sari sari [3]
On the order of Nanda Maharaj, the Lifter of great Govardhan Hill comes and
sits in a line together with Baladev and His friends.
sukta-sakadi bhaji nalita kusmanda
dali dalna dugdha-tumbi dadhi mocha-ghanta [4]
Bitter curries, various herbs, fries, tender jute herbs, pumpkin, dal,
curries with gravy, gourd cooked in milk, yoghurt, banana flowers.
mudga-bada masa-bada rotika ghrtanna
saskuli pistaka ksira puli payasanna [5]
Fried mung and urad dumplings, rotis, ghee rice,
luchi, sweet rice-meal cakes, condensed milk, pulis (cakes with
sweet filling), sweet rice.
karpura amrtakeli rambha ksira-sara
amrta rasala amla dvadasa prakara [6]
Camphor, rice pudding, bananas, cheese, fruit juice and nectar, as well as
twelve kinds of sour items.
luchi chini sara-puri laddu-rasa-bali
bhojana karena krsna ha’ye kutuhali [7]
Luchi with sugar, condensed-milk cakes, laddus, sweet balls in
syrup. Krishna enjoys His meal very much.
radhikara pakka anna vividha byanjana
parama anande krsna karena bhojana [8]
Krishna eats very happily all the various preparations Radhika cooks for
Him.
chhale bale laddu-khaya sri-madhumangala
bagala bajaya ara deya hari-bola [9]
Sneaking laddus, Sri Madhumangal put his hand under his armpit and
makes naughty sounds, crying, ‘Hari bol!’
radhikadi gane heri nayanera kone
trpta ha’ye khaya krsna yasoda bhavane [10]
Glancing at Radhika and others in the kitchen from the corner of His eye,
Krishna eats happily at Mother Yasoda’s home.
bhojanante piye krsna suvasita bari
sabe mukhe praksalaya ha’ye sari sari [11]
At the end of His meal, Krishna drinks some scented water. Then, everybody
stands in a line to wash their mouths.
hasta mukha praksaliya yata sakha-gane
anande visrama kare baladeva sane [12]
Having washed their hands and mouths, all friends together with Baladev
happily retire to take rest.
tambula rasala ane tambula masala
taha kheye krsna-chandra sukhe nidra gela [13]
Then, Krishna-chandra is given some juicy and spicy betels – He eats
them and happily falls asleep.
vilasaka sikhi-puchchha chamara dhulaya
apurva sayaya krsna sukhe nidra yaya [14]
As He is fanned with a large peacock-feather fan and a yak-tail whisk,
Krishna falls asleep on His incredibly beautiful bed.
yasomati ajna peye dhanistha anita
sri-krsna-prasada radha bhunje haye prita [15]
On the order of Yasomati, Dhanistha brings Krishna’s holy prasad to
Radha, who then lovingly honours it.
lalitadi sakhi-gana avasesa paya
mane mane sukhe radha-krsna-guna gaya [16]
After that, Lalita and other girls take the remnants – rejoicing at heart,
they sing Radha-Krishna’s glories.
hari-lila eka-matra yahara pramoda
bhogarati gaya thakura bhakativinoda [17]
Bhaktivinod, whose sole obsession is the pastimes of the Lord, is thus
singing this bhoga arati (a song glorifying the Lord’s pastime of
taking a meal).
