SRI GAUDIYA GITANJALI : SPECIAL POETRY
Sriman Mahaprabhor Astakaliya Lila Smarana Mangala
Stotram
(In Remembrance of Sriman Mahaprabhu’s Daily Pastimes)
(By Srila Visvanath Chakravartipad)
sri-gauranga-mahaprabhos charanayor ya kesa-sesadibhih
seva-gamya-taya sva-bhakta-vihita sanyair yaya labhyate
tam tan-manasikim smrtim prathayitum bhavya sada sattamair
naumi pratyahikam tadiya-charitam sriman-navadvipa-jam [1]
I am bowing at the holy feet of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, service to whom is
aspired after by Lord Brahma, Siva, Anantadev and other great personalities
and is attainable for all souls who follow the practices of His devotees. May
His holy feet always sublimely manifest in my memory and mind. Every day, I
offer obeisances to the pastimes of the Lord hailing from Sri Nabadwip.
ratry-ante sayanotthitah sura-sarit snato babhau yah prage

yah puryam aparahnake nija-grhe sayam grhe ’thangane
srivasasya nisa-mukhe nisi vasan gauram sa no raksatu [2]
At the end of the night, the Lord wakes up and walks to take bath in the
Ganges. He looks very beautiful and radiant. In the forenoon, He plays with
His friends and associates in the groves, performing effulgent pastimes there
until noon. After that, in the afternoon, He comes home and at dusk visits
Srivas Pandit’s house, staying there until late at night. May this Lord
Gauranga protect us.

gatvanyatra dharasanopari vasan sadbhih sudhautanano
yo matradibhir iksito ’ti-muditas tam gauram adhyemy aham [3]
At the end of the night, hearing the sounds of birds, roosters and other
animals, the Lord rises from His bed. He speaks sweetly to Sri Vishnupriya
Devi, making her happy. Then, He walks away and sits on an earthen seat while
others help Him clean His mouth and freshen Himself up. His mother and other
members of the household gaze at Him with deep affection. I meditate upon
this Lord Gauranga.

krtva visnu-samarchchanadi sa-gano bhuktvannam achamya cha
dvitram chanya-grhe sukham svapiti ya stam gauram adhyemy aham [4]
In the morning, He goes to the river together with His dear associates, where
He bathes and offers worship with flowers and other offerings. Then, He
receives beautiful clothes and is adorned with a garland and sandalwood
paste. After that, He offers worship to Lord Vishnu and takes prasad
together with His associates. Having done that, He visits a few other houses
and happily retires to take a nap. I meditate upon this Lord Gauranga.

anandam pura-vasinam ya urudha tam gauram adhyemy aham [5]
In the forenoon, when He wakes up from the nap and washes His face with fresh
water, He begins to chant Sri Harinam-kirtan in the company of
devotees. He continues His human-like pastimes at the houses of devotees and
His own home. He is a source of great joy for all residents of the town. I
meditate upon this Lord Gauranga.

arame mrdu-marutaih sisiritair bhrnga-dvijair-nadite
svam vrnda-vipinam smaran bhramati yas tam gauram adhyemy aham [6]
At midday, He engages in sankirtan with His associates, including
Advaita Acharya, Gadadhar Pandit, and, of course, Sri Nityananda Prabhu. As
He walks in the gardens, enjoying the gentle breeze, cool air and the sweet
sounds of bumblebees and birds, He is reminded of His groves in Vrindavan. I
meditate upon this Lord Gauranga.

tadrksu svayam apy alam tri-jagatam sarmani vistarayan
aramat tata eti paura-janata chaksus-chakorodupo
matra dura-mudeksito nija-grham tam gauram adhyemy aham [7]
In the beautiful afternoon, glancing lovingly at His associates, the Lord
spreads abundant happiness throughout the three worlds (the befitting kind of
happiness according to His standards). When He comes back from the forest,
everybody looks at him longingly, like chakora birds that subsist on
drinking moonbeams. His mother happily comes out of the house and watches Him
approach home from far. I meditate upon this Lord Gauranga.
yas tri-srotasi sayam-apta-nivahaih snatva pradipalibhih

visnos tat-samayarchanan cha krtavan dipalibhis taih samam
bhuktvannani suvitikam api tatha tam gauram adhyemy aham [8]
When the evening comes, He bathes in the Ganges again. Then, He worships the
three currents of the Ganges with lamps, flowers and other auspicious items.
Putting on fine fresh clothes, He takes a garland and offers it along with
lamps and similar items to Lord Vishnu in worship. Then, He takes the Lord’s
prasad and choice paan. I meditate upon this Lord Gauranga.

premananda-samakulas cha chala-dhih sankirtane lampatah
kartum kirtanam urdhvam udyama-paras tam gauram adhyemy aham [9]
In the evening, He comes to Srivas Pandit’s house and, together with Sri
Advaita Acharya and all the devotees, relishes the nectar of
Hari-katha (discourses about the Supreme Lord). Agitated by the
intense happiness of divine love, His mind becomes restless and eager as He
chants sankirtan. Raising His arms, He chants the Lord’s glories with
great enthusiasm. I meditate upon this Lord Gauranga.
srivasadibhir avrto nija-ganaih sarddham prabhubhyam natann
uchchais-tala-mrdanga-vadana-parair gayadbhir ullasayan
sriman srila-gadadharena sahito naktam vibhaty adbhutam
svam gaurah sayanalaye svapiti yas tam gauram adhyemy aham [10]
Surrounded by Srivas and other close associates, the two Lords dance and sing
joyfully to the loud rhythmic sounds of drums. Together with Sriman
Nityananda Prabhu and Srila Gadadhar Pandit, the Lord spends the night,
manifesting His miraculous pastimes. Then, they return home together to
sleep. I meditate upon this Lord Gauranga.
sri-gauranga-vidhoh sva-dhamani navadvipe ’sta-kalodbhavam
bhavyam bhavya-janena gokula-vidhor lila-smrteraditah
lilam dyotayad etad atra dasakam pritanvito yah pathet
tam prinati sadaiva yah karunaya tam gauram adhyemy aham [11]
When these pastimes that the Moon Sri Gauranga performs during the eight
parts of the day in His divine abode Sri Nabadwip manifest to some fortunate
souls, they will worship the pastimes of the Moon of Gokula (Lord Sri
Krishna-chandra) in various ways (remembering them, etc.). Those who lovingly
study and recite these ten verses about the illustrious pastimes of the Lord
always satisfy the Lord and receive His mercy. I meditate upon this Lord
Gauranga.
