SRI GAUDIYA GITANJALI : SPECIAL POETRY
Sri Sri Radha-Madhava Mahotsav
(Jubilation of Sri Sri Radha-Madhav)
(By Srila Prabodhananda Saraswati)
smaratu mano mama niravadhi radham
madhupati-rupa-guna-sravanodita-sahaja-manobhava-badham [1]
My dear mind, please always remember Sri Radha. As soon as She hears about
Madhupati Krishna’s beauty, She feels naturally aroused and agitated.
su-ruchira-kavari-virajita-komala-parimala-malli-sumalam
mada-chala-khanjana-khelana-ganjana-lochana-kamala-visalam [2]
She has very beautiful hair, and Her neck is adorned with a garland of
fragrant lotus flowers. Her large bright lotus eyes are more agile than the
playful wagtail bird that keeps jumping everywhere like mad.
madakari-raja-virajad-anuttama-chalita-lalita-gati-bhangim
ati-sukumara-kanaka-nava-champaka-gaura-madhura-madhurangim [3]
Her beautiful agile gait and bent posture surpass the magnificence of the
king of mad elephants. Her very youthful and sweetly beautiful figure is of
an enchanting golden colour, the colour of a newly blossomed champaka
flower.
mani-keyura-lalita-balayavali-mandita-mrdu-bhujavallim
prati-padam-adbhuta rupa-chamatkrti-mohana-yuvati-matallim [4]
Her gentle beautiful arms are adorned with jewelled armlets and elegant
bracelets. The more you behold the beauty of this enchanting young girl, the
more astonishing and miraculous it appears to be.
mrdu-mrdu-hasa-lalita-mukha-mandala-krta-sasi-bimba-vidambam
kinkini-jala khachita-prthu-sundara-nava-rasa-rasi-nitambam [5]
The sweet smile on Her gentle face derides the beauty of the moon-disc. Her
dainty ankle-bells tinkle as She dances expressing very beautiful, novel
ecstatic sentiments.
chitrita-kanchulika-sthagitodbhata-kucha-hataka ghatasobham
sphurad-arunadhara-svadu-sudha-rasa-krta-hari-manasa-lobham [6]
Her beautiful, well-formed breasts, which resemble round water-pots, are
covered with a colourful bodice – the sight of Her shaking reddish breasts is
pure nectar that arouses the mind of the Supreme Lord.
sundara-chibuka virajita-mohana-mochaka-bindu-vilasam
sakanaka-ratna-khachita-prthu-mauktika-ruchi-ruchirojjvala-nasam [7]
Her beautiful chin is decorated with an effulgent, charming auspicious dot;
and a beautiful pearl set in gold and ornamented with gems shines brilliantly
in Her nose.
ujjvala-raga-rasamrta-sagara-sara-tanum sukha-rupam
nipatita-madhava-mugdha-mano-mrganabhi-sudha-rasa-kupam [8]
Her figure is an ocean of nectar of ecstatic paramour love; it is the very
embodiment of bliss. Captivated by Her beauty, Lord Madhav Himself is swept
off His feet, revelling in the pure nectar of musk.
nupura-hara-mano-hara-kundala-krta-ruchim-aruna-dukulam
pathi pathi madana-madakula gokula-chandra-kalita pada-mulam [9]
Seeing Her walk down the road in Her crimson dress, adorned with ankle-bells,
necklace and charming earrings, Gokula-chandra Sri Krishna loses His mind and
falls at the soles of Her feet.
rasika-sarasvati-gita-mahadbhuta-radha-rupa-rahasyam
vrndavana-rasa-lalasa-manasam-idam-upageyam-avasyam [10]
Thus, Rasika Saraswati sings about the mystery of Sri Radha’s greatly
astonishing beauty, which must be sung by all those who long and crave for
the ecstatic devotional pastimes of Vrindavan.
